Unauthorised Road Obstruction and Safety Violations on YO8 9NN, 7th August
I am writing to bring to your immediate attention a serious situation that occurred on 07/08/23 at 11:30 at YO8 9NN. Vehicles involved in civil works have obstructed the road without apparent proper closure, traffic management, or diversion signs. Even more concerning, drivers were instructed to drive on footpaths, which is a clear violation of the law.
The location in question is a well-known spot frequently used by older pensioners, some of whom now find themselves unable to access the area due to the obstruction. This adds an additional layer of concern and urgency to the situation.
As you may be aware, under the Highway Code, driving a vehicle on the footpath is strictly prohibited. This act not only endangers pedestrians, particularly the older residents who frequent this area but also reflects a blatant disregard for traffic regulations. The obstruction of the road without evident traffic management or proper road closure or diversion signs further raises questions about whether these actions were conducted with the necessary permits and in compliance with the appropriate laws and guidelines.
1. I kindly request that you investigate this matter urgently to ascertain the following:
2. Were the necessary permits obtained for the obstruction of the road?
3. Were proper traffic management, road closure, or diversion signs implemented as required by law? What immediate actions will be taken to rectify this situation and ensure the safety of all road users, including the older pensioners who rely on access to this area?
4. I have photographic evidence to support my complaint and am willing to provide further information if required.
This matter raises serious safety concerns, and I trust that you will address it with the urgency and seriousness it deserves. I look forward to hearing from you promptly regarding the actions taken to resolve this issue.
Thank you for your attention to this critical matter.
Yours sincerely,

Roadside hedge growing to obscure visibility level crossing signage, 23rd July
The Hawthorn bush on the nearside approach for a vehicle travelling from the A1238/Leeds Road, northward toward the railway along Dam Lane, is growing to obscure a vehicular users view of Level Crossing Signage for approach signs TSR & GD 773 (picture of road traffic lights some meters on approach to the level crossing), and the nearside TSR & GD 775 ('Keep Crossing Clear' on the nearside Road Traffic Light), Due to inspections this is not thought to have been an issue for more than 3 months ago, which would be in line with hedging, growing as summer begins.

Excessive car parking and visitors, 8th July
The household at No.29 has 3 cars. In addition to this they have an additional 2 - 4 cars parking at the bottom of the street.
This makes accessibility to residents driveways difficult.
I think the this issue to the fact they are running multiple businesses from this address. A plumbing business, a gym from their garage and a gardening business.
They park on both sides of the street making access for vans and waste trucks impossible.

Conifers fly tipped, 28th March
This area is continuously being used to fly tip anything & everything. In my opinion, the council needs to be more proactive in catching & deterring fly tippers by naming & shaming, plus increasing sentences / fines.
