Street light has been out for months, 25th February
Reported this street light (No. 4, Cemetery Rd) and 2 others (on Kirkgate & Norby) at same time, back in January 2024. The N.Y. Council lights were fixed within days but this light apparently comes under a different jurisdiction and although it has been reported 2x more times since then nothing has been done to rectify the issue. This stretch of the road Is covered by tall trees and has high walls either side and is very dark at night without light.

50mph speed limit, 23rd January
It appears that the road maintenance team have forgotten to take down the roadwork signs. There was road maintenance done in November /December 2022 but it finished. All the signs are still in place with a 50mph speed limit but No work is being done. I've spoken to a traffic officer from North Yorkshire Police and he said they are confused as much as I am

The large pothole on this road outside of Fox Barn is causing my house to shake when the HGV Lorries speed past our house all night due to the diversion both from the A19 presently and the future diversions that you are doing I cannot sleep and it is causing me anxiety as I keep thinking that with the loud banging as each HGV goes over at I may add way over the 30 mph speed limit, I fear they will loose their load and crash into my home, 24th October
The pothole has been there for well over a year

Manhole cover uneven, 16th August
Complained to supervisor of works in the road and Yorkshire Water 4 weeks ago and was told it would be sorted by 11th Aug 22 After completed road works the manhole cover it uneven (right outside our house) and every time a vehicle drives over it it 'clunk clunks' - all day and night. Tried calling Yorkshire Water number again to follow up complaint (01274 202850) and an answer phone message tells you they 'tried to contact you today'. No, they didn't! It doesn't matter what telephone number you call from, landline or mobile, the message is the same. Try it!

Church Bells, 18th June
I would like to know why the bells from St Mary's Church, Cemetry Road. Thirsk, are allowed to ring every 15 minutes 24/7. Surely during the hours of 11pm and 7am this shouldn't be allowed. Am visiting the area and have been kept awake every night.Surely this comes under noise nuisance. Explain please

Parked vehicle obscuring view at junction, 2nd February
Every day there is a vehicle parked on the pavement a few yards from the junction of Stammergate and Long St. This forces motorists to pull out onto the roundabout into the path of oncoming traffic. There have been numerous near misses, including myself. If you are hesitant (as you need to be with it obscuring the view) the traffic that should give way to you pulls out and then you end up nearly hitting them because you are looking right trying to see past the car blocking the view. The problem has existed for a year at least - they used to park a van there and it was even worse. It's caused me an issue 3 times this week because you just cannot see when you pull out onto the roundabout and traffic comes speeding down Long Street.

Bad Potholes in St Mary's Walk, 21st February
There are deep potholes in St Mary's Walk at its junction with Long Street/Stockton Road. They are now so bad that it is virtually impossible to pull into the middle St Mary's Walk to make a right turn onto Stockton Road i.e. the position you are expected to take up when making a right turn as given in the highway code. If a cyclist was to hit the potholes it could cause an accident by throwing him off his cycle.

School parking, 20th September
Due to more children at south kilvington school there is a major problem parking next to school it may be better to move the barriers at end of grass and concrete parking spots at end of current parking next to field and the warning signs need to be repainted and it would be fantastic to get traffic calming measures in place of warning for cars speeding as cars fly up and down this road all the time more than 30 mph and its dangerous for children and the elderly population in the village
