FIXMYSTREET IN YO62 4AF
The following problems have been reported on Fix My Street within 2 miles of YO62 4AF:
Flooded road., 12th February
The beck that runs along side of the road has burst its banks and does so when there's heavy rain fall. It can happen quite quickly. Would it be possible to have 2 'flood warning' signs permanently kept in the village for quick deployment? We get a lot of through traffic along that road and some travel at speed, and when it's dark the surface water is hard to see.

Heat coming from underneath the road surface, 3rd December
The recent snow has revealed a square patch of road where it doesn’t settle. Everywhere else on the road the snow has covered it. No grit has been applied to this area or the road. It appears that heat is preventing the snow from settling in this area. It is about 1m x 1m perfectly square. I’m concerned there is something underneath the road causing this heat like a broken power cable or some other anomaly. The location is in the middle of the road opposite Sawpit Cottage. I have noticed this patch also after frosty nights too. It is very puzzling.

New Tarmac, 29th December
The road between Fryton lane end and watch quarry was recently replaced, at the join between old and new at the fry ton land end on the helmsley bound carriageway there is a large dip in the road - not a pot hole, It makes my suspension 'bottom out'. It needs filling in and levelling with the new tarmac.

Direction signs need to be more obvious, 1st September
For traffic approaching the B1257 Helmsley-Malton road along Slingsby Bank, the signposting to the left and right needs improving. The only sign is one on the right-hand side of the road, high up on a bank. This sign is easily missed when one is looking straight ahead at the cross-roads.
On many occasions I have seen cars position themselves next to the centre line as if going straight ahead or turning right to Malton, and then they unexpectedly turn left to Helmsley. I have narrowly escaped being side-swiped by a car which did this when I was already positioned to turn left to Helmsley.
It appears that drivers do not realise until too late which way to turn for Helmsley and Thirsk.
Given the importance of this junction in taking traffic from Castle Howard, I think low-level signs to Helmsley and Thirsk (with a left-facing arrow) and Malton (with a right-facing arrow) are needed beside the hedge on the opposite side of the B road.
