Obstruction of public footpath, 16th January

Mon, 16 Jan 2023 14:09:18 +0000
54.059348 -1.099661

Obstruction of public footpath. Public footpath details: Route Code: 10.141/2/3 Parish: Ham - Sutton on the Forest. Stile at OS Grid Ref: SE590629. Goose Farm to Hinterlands Common, off Goose Lane, Sutton on the Forest. Map extracts attached with annotated photos to explain the issue fully. The Stile over the fence is blocked for practical pedestrian use by an electric animal fence (not known if the electric wire is 'live'). The fence has a standard practice insulated piece of tube fitted to the horizontal spar at the location of the stile to enable the electric wire to go through and hence allow people to use the stile but it is not used. In this instance the insulated tube is being bypassed by the electric wire, which stands proud of the fence by approx 12 inches thereby in effect stopping legitimate use of the stile and therefore the public footpath by use of an 'engineered' obstruction. The electric fence wire is at a height that is higher than the stile step which also further complicates reasonable access. In my opinion this is a discrete and subtle 'deliberate act' to prevent public access. It has to be a 'deliberate act' as the insulated tube is there and not used - why? otherwise it is purely incompetence, I suspect the first! It is a long way around this deliberate obstruction of a public footpath. Please get this resolved with the land owner as a matter of priority.

Eastern side of road potholes on inside of bend, 24th April

Wed, 24 Apr 2019 16:03:06 +0100
54.040969 -1.100715

Eastern side of road potholes on inside of bend, I understand that this is directly on the differing councils boundary, however the potholes on the inside of the bend on the eastern side of the road are getting worse to the point of going to either damage a vehicle tyre and cause an accident or drivers will swerve to avoid and have a head on collision. All because of a set of potholes that lie on the boundary and neither Hambleton or York council want to resolve (by evidence) to completion. Reporting these issue absolves me of my duty of care, it's now time for the councils to talk and deliver an effective repair between them, as the duty of care is now in your hands!

Large pothole on Eastern side of road on inside of bend, 8th January

Tue, 08 Jan 2019 09:28:16 +0000
54.040994 -1.100715

Large pothole on Eastern side of road on inside of bend. These potholes are going to cause a head on collision where someone will go wide to avoid and then collide with another vehicle coming the other way! The previous attempts at repair have failed, a more proficient repair needs to be made. I know this is on the boundary between the two councils hence the poor repairs in the past - nobody wants it. It requires sorting properly before someone is killed at this location.

Extremely dangerous poorly signed S-bend, 14th September

Tue, 14 Sep 2010 21:31:54 +0100
54.054862721713 -1.10275971240027

This corner is extremely dangerous, there is an accident here almost monthly and invariably it will be almost head on. And if the accident isn't head on with another her car it will be a car simply not seeing the corn ere and going straight across into a field. It won't be long until their is a fatality on this bend, a car will go into the side of another vehicle at 60mph and someone will get killed. The problem is that it is so poorly signed, often you don't even see it coming unless you know it is there. Hence why so many delivery vans etc end up missing it and going into a field. Another important note, you often have busses, coaches and lorries on this corner. The solution in my mind would be to go all out. Plenty of warning signs, red lines etc on the road and chevrons. Also, a new road surface would help as the current surface is very slippery so doesn't aid braking if you do encounter another vehicle.
