Road works have changed traffic lights, 5th March

Tue, 05 Mar 2024 07:46:01 +0000
52.2877 -2.120199

Traffic lights have been changed with road surfacing repairs. Traffic is not flowing to Wychbold as it previously did. It consequently is causing traffic to back up onto the motorway as the slip road can no longer empty quickly enough. This is massively unsafe and dangerous. Please can this be looked at urgently.

Insufficient signage & Road markings, 11th September

Mon, 11 Sep 2023 11:38:15 +0100
52.287359 -2.120746

I have sent below on email to [email removed]; Good Morning, I contact you regarding ongoing dangerous situation at Junction 5 of M5 Motorway in Worcestershire. My concern with that of other local people of Wychbold is the road layout beneath motorway. The area is double roundabouts and the one of concern is approach toward M5 North slip road(s). What happens regular is motorist from out of area on day trips to Webb's garden centre, wedding venues etc approach from Wychbold. They pass under motorway and clearly following Sat Navs to M5 North then proceed to come across into opposite carriageway of traffic coming toward Wychbold from direction of Droitwich. There are no entry signs but the area could do with a keep left arrow and solid white line marking down centre of the road. I have nearly been subject of head on collisions on three occasions in the past. The most recent yesterday afternoon. I attach a map to hopefully help you with locating the said location. I am willing to offer more information if required by return email. I take this issue as potentially leading to a fatality or serious injury if there were to be a head in collision. I look forward to you expeditiously addressing this matter. Many thanks Wychbold resident image.png

60mph restriction in place on overhead gantry on M5 near Droitchwich goes blank then speed camera flashes as cars go throughq, 15th March

Wed, 15 Mar 2023 23:44:59 +0000
52.274113 -2.121965

I was travelling north bound on Wednesday 15th March at 1645 on the M5 near Droitwich and a 60mph sign was in place and then went blank as I approached it. A few seconds before going through the overhead gantry, I noticed a car in front of me get flashed by the speed camera on this gantry , so I made sure I was only doing 60mph and I then saw a flash as I went through. This is clearly a fault with the system. Can you please look into this matter.

Unlocked doorway in motorway fenceline, 3rd January

Tue, 03 Jan 2023 14:39:42 +0000
52.303094 -2.1102

A fenceline was installed as a wind/ noise barrier as part of the smart motorways works a few years ago. There is an unlocked access door in the hedge. We (Webbs Garden Centres) are about to install a solar filed on our land adjacent to this fence. Given the high value of the panels we want to have door locked to prevent access to our site from the motorway. is this possible please?

No highway verge/roundabout grass cutting or vegetation removal for years, 16th July

Sat, 16 Jul 2022 11:53:28 +0100
52.288317 -2.119214

This enquiry concerns the maintenance of the verges and roundabouts at the intersection of the A38 and M5 at Wychbold (junction 5). The highway verges, islands and roundabouts throughout this complicated junction are in a poor state with long grass, weeds, self-seeded shrubs etc. These are an eyesore and, in places, constitute a safety hazard for drivers as they impact on the visibility splays. For many drivers this is an "arrival" point into Worcestershire off the national motorway network, and it gives a very poor impression. I am not aware of any grass cutting or other maintenance since the “dumbbell” layout was modified many years ago. I understand the desire to retain long grass and wild flowers along some verges, but this should not be the case here. I have been informed by Worcestershire County Council that responsibility for maintenance here does not rest with them. Please can you arrange some proper maintenance.

Lines on road encourage people to turn right onto motorway from left hand lane causing numerous accidents and even more numerous near misses, 5th July

Tue, 05 Jul 2022 12:00:42 +0100
52.286814 -2.121454

When sat at traffic lights coming from Wychbold on A38 the left hand lane is meant to be for straight on only, however the road markings encourage drivers to turn right to go up motorway slip road from left lane thus colliding into anything in the outside lane...numerous accidents over and over again, including serious injuries and deaths . I have done a freedom of information request to find out exactly how many accidents have happened here waiting for the statistics but it is loads...including myself ended up with 5 broken bones as a driver turned right there it needs much clearer markings and the curved line removing
