Really deep and large pothole, 15th April
This very large pot hole has recently appeared and is very deep. When it rains and fills with water you can't see where it is and thus impossible to miss it. It is on area of the lane where there have been many potholes before probably because it does flood.

Growing potholes in area of botched repair, 22nd January
This stretch of the Newport Road has been failing for years. A temporary patch was made in May last year and has now failed. (Its failure was documented in a previous report - 632668 - which remains open). The road is narrow here and HGVs cannot avoid these holes so they are growing by the day. The lorries also "bounce" after hitting the first one, causing further holes at regular intervals and shaking the houses! This area needs proper resurfacing, not bodging with blobs of tarmac as was done last time.

Growing pothole, 11th May
This hole has been reported before (since September 2014), but as updates don't get sent to the council, here's a new report. This hole is now 2 feet long and over 3 inches deep. Every lorry hits it as they really don't have any room to avoid it due to the width of the road. Towards the end of April an engineer viewed it and marked it with her magic paint. However when the repair team were here, fixing another hole a few feet away (we have lots) they chose to ignore this one and others further down the road.

Potential killer pothole, 31st March
This is not a new problem, but I understand updates do not get forwarded to the council. This has been reported for over a year, but is getting worse and is now quite likely to KILL a cyclist or motor-cyclist. Following a shoddy repair by STW over a year ago the surface has continually deteriorated and there is now a 4 inch deep hole with a sharp metal edge facing oncoming traffic. This is not trivial, it is a potential killer. It's on a down-hill stretch and within about 50 yards of a junction where children cross on their way to the primary school (which used to have a lolly-pop crossing, but that's another story). With a narrow road and heavy lorries in both directions even a car-tyre blow out could be extremely serious.

Road surface breaking up, 24th April
In several areas along this section of the Newport Road there are cracks, potholes and "frayed" edges to previous repairs, plus a lot of loose material being thrown around by passing vehicles. With the level of heavy traffic on this road these areas will deteriorate quickly.

Report on FixMyStreet
Ill-fitting manhole cover & damaged road surface, 10th March
The manhole cover no longer fits correctly, meaning that it emits a loud "click-click" whenever a vehicle runs over it. This is irritating for nearby residents and indicates that unless urgent action is taken the cover could fracture and collapse. There are several places on the road nearby, alongside previous patch repairs, that are starting to break up. This is a busy road with many heavy lorries and small holes grow quickly.

Loose Manhole Cover, 29th June
The manhole at this location has a loose or broken cover which makes a "clack-clack" sound when a vehicle drives over it. As the road is quite narrow, more vehicles hit it than miss it. Presumably this is putting strain on the cover which may break.
