Dual Carriageway sign faces wrong direction on A36, 28th December

Tue, 28 Dec 2021 16:31:39 +0000
51.031399 -1.716525

On the A36 towards Salisbury, just before the turn off to whaddon/Amesbury at roughly sp5 3hd there is a "Dual Carriageway Ahead" sign that has spun around and is now facing the wrong way. It has been pointing toward the cars exiting the dual carriageway for roughly 3 months and as of today it is facing the adjacent field. It is fixed on to one single pole and the wind has probably rotated it.

There is no barrier between Grimstead Road and A36 and there is evidence of foot fall and people accessing the a36 from Grimstead Road. My concern is that children have direct access to dual carriageway from Grimstead Road.

Poor condtion of the road., 31st August

Thu, 31 Aug 2017 16:24:56 +0100
51.040672 -1.728893

Having recently traveled along this road to visit relatives, I was shocked by the general condition of the road through Whaddon and Alderbury. It appears to be showing serious signs of neglect with sunken drains, potholes, uneven road surfaces and general poor maintenance! Somebody with authority in road inspection needs to pay a visit and rectify this long overdue road maintenance issue.

Multiple linear potholes, over a mile in centre of road, 18th November

Fri, 18 Nov 2016 14:27:53 +0000
51.045413 -1.73951

On the road from the Southampton Road at Belmont House and up to the junction with Folly lane, there are a number of linear potholes in the middle of the road extending several metres in length in each case. This is where the road surface has lifted from white lines on the previous (underlying) road surface. These potholes are not very visible in daylight and virtually invisible in darkness. Because they are linear, a motorcycle’s wheels fall into them, resulting in loss of full steering control, restricting the rider’s ability to return from the centre of the road to the left or avoid oncoming traffic..

Road surface disgraceful in Shute End Road and Witherington Road, near their junction with Tunnel Hill, 7th January

Thu, 07 Jan 2016 15:31:51 +0000
51.041383 -1.745968

Travelling from north to south, the southern end of Shute End Rd has pot holes in the left hand margin of the road that currently are filled with rain water. Across the junction with Tunnel Hill the west and east sides of Witherington Rd are pot holed, and the surface of the main carriageway has begun to break up. Again, the presence of rainwater collected in the various holes makes driving dangerous as you do not know how deep some of these holes are. Oncoming traffic is sometimes avoiding the potholes by driving down the centre of the road leaving no room for your own vehicle. The road was like this last winter and no apparent action taken despite reports submitted on this site.
