To step out of my front door, I deem is a trip hazard. The property used to be a barber’s and it is evident that there has been a lot of foot fall over many years that has eroded the pathway. I have lived in the property for 25 years. I would be grateful to be considered for assessment for repair. Thank you

Boundary of the industrial est, previously known as Grimers Yard, 19th March

Tue, 19 Mar 2024 16:32:17 +0000
52.893331 -0.343133

The Parish Council has received a report that either one of the businesses or the land owner of the industrial estate on West Rd, has dug a drainage channel across the yard and inserted a soil pipe under the boundary fence, which now drains on to the road. As this road has regular flooding issues, confirmation is sought to establish if this action is permissable.

Aa shown on street plan attached, 7th March

The ditch above the cemetery on the RHS of Birthorpe Road (when looking towards the village) takes the rainwater from the large field above the cemetery. When raining heavy the clay-coloured silty water that is run off from the field can be seen backed up as shown in the attached photo. This passes at the point in the photo into a drain straight across under Birthorpe Road and the same-coloured water comes up in the start into the drainage ditch that runs down the LHS of Birthorpe Road. This drain under Birthorpe Road has partially collapsed or become blocked and cannot take heavy rainwater flow and so backs up as shown in the photo. It can cope with light rainwater. There is no surface water drainage ditch down the right had side of Birthrope road until 200m further down towards the village where street gulleys first appear. There is no drain under the access ramp to the cemetery, so this is not the Parish Councils Responsibility. The drain under Birthorpe Road has an ingress and exit that are both outside the boundary of cemetery and its access road. As I understand from the appropriate statutory instruments this is therefore the county council’s responsibility. Please contact me on 07980 577067 or on this email so we can arrange a mutually convenient time for a site visit. Regards John Pyrah. Fixing this issue has numerous benefits as it will stop the cemetery flooding and the putrefied contents of the graves washing onto Birthrope Road, It will stop the flooding shown which when frozen is a huge sheet of ice and a car crash waiting to happen, I will also stop silty surface water running down Birthorpe Road and blocking the rain water gulleys which means in turn the road floods badly at the bottom of the village possibly into houses but also the rain water gulleys have to be cleared of the silt. It also would prevent the silt getting into BT’s telephone cables that run-in conduits down the RHS of Birthorpe Road and they have had to spend hours recently cleaning

Grass verge opposite school, 4th March

Mon, 04 Mar 2024 11:35:28 +0000
52.873107 -0.346097

The grass verge has become a very deep mud channel due to bus/tractors driving on the verge - mainly due to the road being too narrow and people parking on the school markings when they shouldn't be. It's become quite deep and a hazard whilst walking especially for the school children.
