Road breaking up/pot holes, 22nd February
The problem exists with the break up of the road surface in the road from Pudleston Church to the culvert for Whyle brook in Brockmanton . This has been caused by vehicle traffic moving over flooded roads the resultant hydro. shock has done the damage.(as it does every year) However as the roadway is lower than some of the surrounding land, repairing the road surface is only a stop gap solution. If the ditches and culverts were maintained surface storm water would be diverted on to grass pasture to filter slowly down to the water course thereby reducing the volume of water arriving at the Leominster flood plain from the Brock valley by thousands of tons.It would also mean that the roadway would remain clear of water and damage. In the 25 Years that I've lived at HR6 0QX Nunnery Cottage I have watched the council fill in the pot holes each year and the money is wasted you are treating the symptom without ever trying to cure the disease fix the ditches/water run off's and culverts on this section and the maintenance costs for road repairs would dramatically reduce. Regards, Steve Marks.
