Water coming through the tarmac, 19th June
It’s been dry for weeks yet the road is wet at this crossroads and running down to the drain. If you stand on it, bubbles rise up through the tarmac. At a guess, there is a water mains leak under the road surface which could lead to far worse problems later and should probably be dealt with by SW water.

Over 24 inch long pothole near harsh bend, 15th February
This pothole has been there over six weeks and is obviously progressively getting bigger as time passes. The pothole is full of water and over 4 inches deep and filled with loose sharp stones which has caused significant damage to my vehicle, breaking my suspension spring. Difficult to avoid when met with oncoming traffic.

Massive water filled pothole, 29th January
A deep 4-5” pothole with sheer sides has opened up quite suddenly on this bend. It’s impossible to know it’s there in the dark and difficult to avoid as you go around the corner. It also has sheer sides so very hard on wheels. It’s obviously a complete liability for cyclists.
As an aside, if you happen to have any hardcore lying around looking for a home, the passing place at the same location could really do with some.

Culvert still collapsed and getting worse..., 24th April
Not so much a pothole as a chasm now. Photos don't do this justice- it only appears to be 2.5 inches/6cm deep but due to the humos either side of it it's actually a complete car wrecker. Was marked up 18 months ago but paint long gone. Please can it be fixed before a two wheeler has a nasty accident?

Road falling away, 4th February
This is a deliberately-created cutting in the bank for road surface water- the water running over the tarmac into the cutting has eroded it to the extent that you could get a wheel stuck in the gully. Will try to get photo later.

Side of the road has fallen away, 4th February
There is an area beside the road, where the verge/bank meets the concrete rainwater gully, where the mud of the bank has been eroded by floodwater so much that there is now a 30cm+ deep hole just beyond the concrete gully. I found this out by grounding my ford galaxy(ie quite a high vehicle) on the concrete while the wheel spun in a void. The area just looks like a puddle but it is in fact welly deep. Thankfully my neighbour came to tow me out of that fix! If you have any spare rubble though, it could do with a digger bucket-load.

Large number of tubs flytipped, 4th February
Our neighbour has been litter-picking today and she has gathered together a large number of items fly-tipped in the ditches. Many of them appear to be industrial detergent tubs and hose pipe etc.

Deterioration of the road surface, 23rd January
Council has received a report from a concerned member of public who is concerned about the state of the road understood to be Trowden Corner. The bend is between Crockernhayes Farm and Cockerams Road. This area has been subject to water running onto the road and freezing for many years. A similar situation was recently successfully resolved nearer Trow Farm. The corner has restricted visibility and there is a high risk of vehicles losing control on the ice when rounding the corner, especially if brakes are applied.

Road falling away into stream (STILL!), 17th October
The bank at the side of the road on this dangerous blind bend washed away in 2012, and we have had temporary flimsy barriers in place since then, loosely held down by sandbags.
Obviously, after the deluge last night, the flooding through Westwood, which starts far further up the road halfway between Pratt's Farm and Woodground, at the site of another washed away retaining wall, runs back into the stream on this bend. The flooding was as usual 50cm deep and the the entire width of the road, for a distance of 300-400 m. That is a lot of water. The barriers wash into the stream every single time this occurs, where they forced downstream and create an obstruction, causing even more flooding and problems for householders.
We have now retrieved the barriers and stood them up again, although more rain is predicted so they will probably wash away again.
It is imperative that the wall be repaired as soon as possible. This situation directly threatens at least 9 houses, whose inhabitants spent last night sandbagging and barge-boarding their doors, and now are sweeping mud and sewage out of their yards.
It is a health risk, a driving risk (yet again, two cars were stuck in the village yesterday), a direct threat to some 20 residents, and yet it could so easily be remedied. Instead, we have older people, sick people and disabled people having to fight for their houses several times a year. PLEASE come and sort it out! We get very little for our council tax out here- is it really so unreasonable to expect a potentially life-threatening situation from receiving some attention?
We need at the very least a sign on the road warning people to slow down, as this dangerous bend becomes narrower and narrower, people who are unaware of the risk hurtle towards oncoming traffic at a place where soon not even one vehicle will be able to pass safely.
It's such a no-brainer, to fix the subsiding side of a road, that you do not even have a category for it- it should never have got this bad in the first place!! I am attaching some photos taken this morning (we were all far too busy last night to take photos in the dark)- you will note the height of the flattened vegetation. It was this high the entire length of the village! That is a lot of water to hold back with a few sandbags, and evidently they don't hold it back- instead they perish and float way, blocking drains and culverts and causing even more problems. SO these are not a solution! Fixing these two places is the only solution.

Pothole growing to meet subsiding bank on other side of the road, 18th February
The area of road opposite the bank where the road meets the stream in Westwood has suddenly developed a deep, long pothole. This is directly across the road from a place where the bank has been collapsing since 2012 due to flood damage. \
The usable road surface is now only just wide enough for a car (about 6ft at a guess and shrinking fast), yet the road is used continually by HGVs of all kinds (especially since the various floods and road closures), which erode the road surface further. Soon the road will be impassible to ordinary traffic at this point.
Please could we have some fixing before we are unable to drive out of Westwood any longer?

Retaining wall washed away, 25th November
The wall designed to keep the stream off the road when it swells was washed away by flooding exactly 1 year ago, resulting in flooding to 4 homes in Westwood, a great loss of possessions, many insurance claims and the need for two families to move out for several months.
The breach caused by the flood last year is still there. We are sitting while authorities argue about whether or not or who should mend it, praying that the weather doesn't get too wet, and wondering whether the same 4 houses will once again be flooded.
This may not affect many houses but it is serious. People out have few council resources invested in their well-being but this is quite an important one!! Please please can it be fixed?

1 Metre-deep hole!!, 25th November
There is a hole around 3 feet deep at the side of the road. Highways are apparently aware of it as it has cones and barrier around it. It has now been open for any creature or human to fall into for over 3 months. I have not the first idea what or why it is there but it is major hazard when out walking with my 4 year old. How long before the barriers get blown away in a winter gale and a cyclist or squiffy pedestrian ends up in it? Could be very serious indeed.
I put it down as a pothole but frankly "mine-shaft" or "open quarry" might be a better description.
