Fence down allowing access to M5 for dogs and kids, 17th April

Wed, 17 Apr 2024 08:35:57 +0100
50.904121 -3.368192

In the last windy storm, the fence has blown Down on the footpath that goes from Muxbeare Lane to Tiverton parkway station. Reported to Devon County council who advise to report to you. On a recent dog walk I witnessed another dog owner narrowly avoiding her dog running into the motorway, as the motorway crash barrier also ends here. M5 A.233.0 sign can be seen where the issue is. A little further down the path, at the end of the first field, another section of fence is also leaning and I suspect will also fall in another windy storm. The holiday traffic will soon be heavy and the last thing we need is a stray dog on the M5!

Defective cats eyes M5 northbound, 31st October

Mon, 31 Oct 2022 19:17:43 +0000
50.912923 -3.361528

I travel northbound on the M5 from junction 30 to 26 and the white cats eyes separating the lanes are barely visible for much of my journey, particularly during the rain. The red eyes marking the hard shoulder are also missing at several stretches. This is a hazard to drivers and makes driving extremely unpleasant. Sorry I can’t be more specific about locations, I drive alone and obviously can’t be noting down mile markers. However the cats eyes definitely deteriorate the further from Exeter you get and are particularly bad around between Cullimpton and junction 26. Thanks.

Location is not exact. I travel M5northbound jct 29 - 26 and there are large stretches of motorway where the cats eyes do not work (probably around 50% has broken cats eyes). It’s dangerous and pretty scary driving in the dark when it’s raining not being able to see any lane markings. Can these please be fixed?

Road camber and wash from traffic causing damage to cob wall, 15th April

Sun, 15 Apr 2018 10:11:03 +0100
50.906661 -3.41061

I live at 57 High street Halberton. This is a 1920 bungalow below the level of the road. The boundary is a cob wall which has been repaired and rendered over the years. My concern is the camber of the road is such that the wash from traffic when it is raining means the wall is constantly being put at risk and made very wet by the wash from the road. If the wall collapsed it would have serious consequences for traffic and us as the drop down to our house is approximately a further 5 feet below road level and would mean serious disruption to road users as probably it would have to be closed or mad single file. I note all along the rest of the road gulleys have been installed /constructed to divert rainwater into the drains. This is absent outside our property. I have concern that the wall is already sturated with recent rain as water is leaking into a shed below the wall. I would like this to be looked at please, prevention is much better than cure, and although we have house insurance I feel insurers would take the line that the council might be responsible should the wall collapse
