Wooden sona Parked and never moved for over 2 years, 7th April
Hi, the parking is getting more difficult here and that big wooden sona in photo 1 has never moved for over 2 years and has never been used, there is no numberplate and lights are broken and we are all paying our road tax to park on road when that is not and that silver trailer in photo 2 had been here for days now and had never moved and either. I would love it if something can be done to get them removed because it's getting more difficult to park here and that is an extra 2 spaces being taken by those untaxed trailers. It's on prestongrange terrace on the corner joining onto county road in prestonpans, east lothian thanks.

Observation, 10th February
What are the laws that prohibit parking on pavements? It is an offence to drive on to a pavement, contrary to s.72 of the Highway Act 1835 and s.34 of the Road Traffic Act 1988). It is an offence to leave a vehicle on a road (including the pavement) in a dangerous position, contrary to s.22 of the Road Traffic Act 1988. It is an offence to obstruct a pavement, contrary to Regulation 103 of The Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986. Rule 145 of the Highway Code states You MUST NOT drive on or over a pavement, footpath or bridleway except to gain lawful access to property, or in the case of an emergency.
Who enforces the law? It is the responsibility of the police to enforce the laws prohibiting driving on the pavement and obstruction of the pavement. Local councils also have the option of taking on the enforcement on particular roads (there will be signs) via traffic wardens. The law is currently poorly enforced and this is causing problems for many people..
