Street Light is Out and is Identified as Northumberland County Council by Post Code!, 15th February

Thu, 15 Feb 2024 12:42:19 +0000
54.86951 -1.863208

I have tried to report the street light at DH8 9TE on three separate occasions, where you have just updated me with this: ‘ New updates on Intermittent Problem with Light on Street / Road Lamp-post at DH8 9TE Thank you for your report. I have checked your photos and identified the lamp on Google maps. However, this lamp is not showing on our database as one we maintain and is most likely part of Durham County Council's inventory. This report has now been closed. Thank You’ I have subsequently been on the ‘Gov.co.uk’ website to try and report this again, however it has identified this Post Code as being the responsibility of Northumberland County Council. I am therefore unable to report it to Durham County Council, and as it is on the Northumberland side of the border I doubt whether they would accept responsibility. I would therefore respectfully suggest that perhaps your records need to be updated to include this lamppost, however if you do disagree that this is not your responsibility, then could I please request that you notify Durham County Council as I am clearly unable to do this as I have explained. Many thanks.

Intermittent Problem with Light on Street / Road Lamp-post at DH8 9TE, 14th February

Wed, 14 Feb 2024 19:06:23 +0000
54.86951 -1.863208

I have reported this problem on two previous occasions and was first advised that it had been repaired, and then that you found no fault - so not sure if it is an intermittent fault. I have provided two photographs which will hopefully assist with identifying it properly, you will note that one photo shows the street light off, and the other as it came back on very briefly (it is currently still off). It is situated just over Shotley Bridge (bridge over the River Derwent), and on the Northumberland side, where it is literally just over the bridge, outside Derwent Dene Lodge (DH8 9TE) and near to the entrance of the Bridge Island housing estate - but it is not the ones on the estate. It actually lights-up that section of road next to the bridge, as well as the pedestrian footpath area too. Obviously at this time of year it makes this safer for motorists, pedestrians, and potentially reduces incidents of criminality too. I would greatly appreciate it if you could please check this out again, and hopefully identify the correct one from the photos and Postcode. Many thanks.

Multiple potholes throughout burnmill Road, all the way from shotley bridge to A68. The road has been in very poor conditions for several years and is now in desperate needs of repair and resurfacing as just filling in the potholes doesn't work....they just reoccur, along with many new ones.

Street / Road Lamp Not Illuminating, 4th February

54.869493 -1.860778

I had reported this problem last week and was advised that it had been repaired, so not sure if the light-bulb in this lamppost has gone out again, or the wrong one has been replaced in error. I have provided a photograph which will hopefully assist with identifying it properly. It is situated just over Shotley Bridge (bridge over the River Derwent), and on the Northumberland side, where it is literally just over the bridge, outside Derwent Dene Lodge and near to the entrance of the Bridge Island housing estate, where it lights-up that section of road next to the bridge, as well as the pedestrian footpath area too. 2 x Street / Road Lights not illuminating, 29th January

Mon, 29 Jan 2024 17:40:27 +0000
54.869493 -1.860778

There are two street/ road lights that are currently not illuminating, and have not done-so for a number of months now. They are located just over ‘Shotley Bridge’ (the actual bridge over the River Derwent), and are on the Northumberland side of the border - and on the Burnmill Bank road. They are pretty-much situated directly outside of the entrance to the Bridge Island housing estate. This makes this stretch of pedestrian crossing over the bridge very dark, which is of concern particularly during the dark winter months, and especially as the bridge is used by both pedestrians and vehicles.

Destruction of healthy trees, 21st January

Thu, 21 Jan 2021 20:19:59 +0000
54.865321 -1.838856

Hi, I have lived in this cemetery 12 years, the photos are two of three that recently had “work done”. I sort advice from someone with 30 years experience at our local horticulture college, he found no disease whatsoever on said trees so I reported to the council who handed it to the people who cut the trees to investigate, who obviously found no wrong doing. In a time where we are encouraged to think of our environment, look out for nature I was saddened to think I had to leave it there however it is council policy to replace fallen or felled trees they have replaced none of the 18. Every year the ground becomes more water logged, puddles have turned to pools that are still visible in spring they have recently had to deal with a huge sink hole only meters from the cemetery. I have suggested planting replacement trees or even if they short of money giving members of the public the opportunity in memory of loved ones. Please help. Blackhill cemetery Durham Road Consett.
