The new one lane traffic system held up a blue light ambulance for a few minutes a couple of days ago, 14th December
Because the two lane one way road has recently been changed to a one lane road with adjacent pathway/cycle way with large kerb, the emergency vehicle could not get past a long line of queueing traffic as there was no where for traffic to go to let the ambulance through. Those few minutes may then or in the future be crucial in a life and death scenario. I use the road every day and what used to be free flowing traffic has now changed into a gridlock situation especially at peak times. I HAVE YET TO SEE ONE USER ON THE NEW PATHWAY/CYCLEWAY SINCE IT'S INCEPTION! Not even one! I think serious consideration should be given to changing the road back to a two lane system to alleviate traffic problems and allow easier access in the case of emergency vehicle use.

Inconsiderate parking Hall Lane, Kingsway & Orchard Place, 17th November
Parents collecting their children from Bernard Gilpin School are parking in inconsiderate and often dangerous ways shortly after 3pm. There is usually only a narrow route up the middle of Hall Lane and Kingsway due to cars parked either side which obstruct some of the pavement for wheelchair users. This afternoon there were three cars parked completely off the road on the grassed area which is likely to cause damage in wet conditions. Orchard Place has a residents only car park for their elderly occupants. It is being filled and then cars left outside bays, today there were six cars parked half on the path opposite the bays. The path has dropped kerbs for wheelchair users, etc., which is restricted due to the vehicles.

Parking concerns, 19th October
I live in Dunholm Close Houghton Le Spring and there is a lack of consideration from parents dropping children off at St Michaels school. Since the path changes in the area (widening of the path for bikes) the congestion in the local area is terrible with parents now doing the following:
- Parents driving clearly above the speed limit in a residential area. They often speed up Dunholm close to use the cul de sac as a turning point and then parked at the bottom of the street to drop off children at the school. -Parents parking on dropped curbs -Parents parking on double yellow lines -Parents parking outside residents drives -Parents parking in the side streets and blocking the flow of traffic down the street to the point no cars could get past. - Parking fully on the pavement to avoid double yellow lines
As parent of young children living on the street it worries me that parents dropping off children are not respectful of the speed limit or residents of the area. This violation of safety really concerns me.
Is there a plan in place to sort out this type of issue (I’ve seen traffic patrols infrequently monitoring this area but feel more needs to be done.) I’m aware that other residents have also escalated concerns to the local authorities. I have also tried speaking to the school with no avail except for them to tell me to call the police.

Red barrier fencing has not been removed after fixing of a wall, 5th October
I reported an unstable wall between kirknewton close and kirkstone close, to Sunderland council at beginning of the year. I had notification to say this was going to be fixed. In around May workmen came and removed the unstable bricks, put the red barrier fencing around it. They returned a few weeks later, fixed the wall but left the plastic fencing. (Even though it was the same men who put it there). I reported the fact that they had left the barriers, which were lying in the street by now. I have reported this to Sunderland council between June and July approx 5 times. They looked on the system and saw it was the highway agency's responsibility and would send an email. I phoned up before the summer holidays as knew it would end up in someone's garden. Nobody has been to collect it as of yet. I called Sunderland council last Friday and was told another email would be sent. However, 5 to 6 months after the wall has been fixed, the plastic barrier is still lying in the street and looks a total eyesore. When I went to fill in the details about the barriers on the highway agency, it redirects me to here as it says this is not their responsibility. Could somebody please come and remove it!!! I don't mind who, I just know that it has now been here for months. Thank you

Illegal bollards across a public parking bay on a public road., 26th April
Hello, Someone has erected yellow bollards across a public parking bay on a public road. This is denying everyone else access, other residents, visitors and delivery drivers. Also they have damaged the block paving. Can we get these removed please so everyone can use this public parking bay. Surely this is illegal. Thankyou.
