Litter, 18th April
Hi, the litter along here hasn't been collected for over 7 months. You are committed to keep the highways predominantly clear of litter. Excuse after excuse. Was told it was in April - there are only 10 days of April left yet nothing has been done at all. What is the plan here?

Very bad litter on verges, 2nd April
All along the A46 from Leicester to Lincoln and A 1 North Muskham to Worksop is really bad, particularly around turn offs and near lay-bys and service stations. The Tuxford area is a lowlight, and also around the turn off to Thorpe and East Stoke. This has been an issue for at least 6 months. Plastic waste, wrappings, bottles, petrol Cans, tyres, dumped traffic cones you name it it is there.

A1 litter, 20th February
Entire stretch between Colsterworth and M62- roadside litter. WHen was this last cleared of litter? Is there anything that we can do to help? After drving reguarly through Netherlands I am ashamed that visitors to our country see this awful mess.

Litter, 18th February
Having not been litter picked now for over 6 months, this stretch of the A1 is pretty grim - along with the central reservation up to Chester Le Street that hasn't been done probably for over a year. This now falls out of the service level agreement that the highways agency is committed to and needs picking. Apart from one or two bits of fly tipping, it hasn't been picked. Has been cut and shredded which the highways agency seem obsessed with but not litter picked. Awful drive up to Newcastle from Darlington and through Durham onwards. Bizarrely one 100 yard stretch was done in Autumn around Chester Le Street but then nothing else.

Litter not cleared for 6 months plus, 20th January
I drive this road every day and the same piles of rubbish there in July, are still there now - just a lot more.
It is not cleared with any pattern, consistency or routine. The stretch from Chester Le St to Washington was done in the summer, but then they did come past the slip lane south, so it has sat a mess since. I drive past the same rubbish, the same duvets, mattresses, toy cars etc. It is a disgrace and shameful way to enter the north east and National Highways have a contract to maintain it.

Litter build up is disgusting, 21st November
The litter is supposed to be picked 4 times a year. It has been done probably once this year. There is now flytipping by the road - whole wheelie bins of bags of household waste. The area manager here assured me 4 times a year - yet it is clearly not. Mile after mile of litter strewn roads are a national disgrace and Highways simply don't hit their own agreed targets looking on your website. Because this stretch is so bad - litter breeds litter, so people are now purposefully dumping waste here as it is clearly a known grotspot. You have missed the long, bright summer days and now in the short, dark wet winter meaning workers have very limited hours to work and much more hazardous, and no action has been taken at all. I've messaged, emailed, tweeted and simply been told we will pass it on. Last time you did I was assured it was picked 4 times a year - yet the same rubbish has been there since the start of the summer. When is this being picked? Last year you blamed the storms which was absurd as you hadn't picked the rubbish up for the same month after month after month, so the storms just blew it around.

Litter now shredded by the decision to cut the grass!, 28th April
ALong the soundbound side, no litter clearance for ages and now the grass cutters have been and shredded it into thousands of pieces that look horrendous. Why cut the grass? Leave it and pick up the litter - these tiny fragments look horrendous, pollute the water courses and local rivers. I see no sense in actually shredding it at all!
