Blocked drain on A517, just east of Fulwood Grange, 22nd August

Sun, 22 Aug 2021 18:05:25 +0100
53.019374 -1.639617

I walked this stretch of the A517 recently from the FP at Fulwood Grange to the C road off to Hulland Village. the road is already challenging and dangerous for walkers and pedestrians. A blocked drain during a time of rain and/or flooding can only add to the considerable hazards.

Barrowmoor Lane road signs broken, Hulland, 14th May

Fri, 14 May 2021 12:16:39 +0100
53.02784 -1.632053

The road sign at the east end is broken. Its left post needs repair. This is a useful sign. The road sign at the west end is leaning backwards and it would be beneficial to tilt the sign forwards. I'd be interested to know why the crash barrier was installed at the junction at Gorse Lane/Brick-Kiln Lane/Barrowmoor Lane.

This deep pot hole has ben there for ages and has ruined tyres before and needs sorting out please.. It's off the A610 on a side road (I can't find a name for it), that leads towards Clowns nursery. It's in the middle of the unofficial cross roads, where you have to turn right to the woodland.

Cattle attack on public right of way, 8th September

Sun, 08 Sep 2019 17:18:57 +0100
53.023093 -1.662605

Cattle Attack SK 2274 4734 08/09/2019 approx 13:00 I entered the field having seen that cows were in the field. I normally have no problem dealing with cows. I crossed the first 100m or so, the group of 10-15 cows, they were extremely inquisitive and closed around behind me. I am usually effective at moving cows by shouting, eye contact and large arm movement, however these cows continued to close on myself and my dog. At about 10m I judged that this group of cows was likely to attack and let the dog lead go. She immediately ran and this distracted the cows. The dog ran up the field and I next saw her coming back through the group of cows. Luckily she was uninjured. I had moved further down the hill, but running was causing the cows to increase speed as well. My dog returned to me, scared by the cows. I removed her lead to increase her ability to avoid injury. At this point I was half way down the field with cows behind me so my best option was to continue. We moved quickly down hill, however the cows circled round the field remaining higher on the hill but parallel to the path. They clearly knew where we were going to go. After about 60m one cow made a charge downhill and came within touching distance. I managed to stop the group with shouting and arm movement. At this point both my dog and I were pretty scared. We moved further down the path, hoping for a fence. Then the rest of group charged, I avoided some of the cows but was knocked over, I somehow managed to be pushed/moved into a gorse bush and got my legs up and kicked the attacking cows in the face. As the cows charged my dog ran off down the field and away across the small stream at the bottom. I believe that this attracted the attention of most of the cows and these chased after her. However, at least two cows continued to attempt to "get at" me in the gorse bush for a short time. I think kicking them made them back off. I managed to regain my feet and they moved away. I could see the rest of group in the distance chasing after my dog. I was not significantly injured and was able to set off in pursuit. On the other side of the stream I could see the cows had grouped again and that they were mooing and milling around. There was an electric fenced off area that I could enter, which was energised. I walked further up the field and happilly found my dog, uninjured and happy to see me

Blocked drain on A517, 18th June

Tue, 18 Jun 2019 17:35:53 +0100
53.019894 -1.637578

Drain is blocked on A517 as you travel from Ashbourne JUST AFTER the turning sign for Hulland Village. Any amount of rain causes flooding which runs down the road and into what looks a telephone access chamber. This ultimately contributes to flooding across the road at the bottom of the hill. It's been like this for some time (months).
