FIXMYSTREET IN DE22 4HE
The following problems have been reported on Fix My Street within 2 miles of DE22 4HE:
Potholes and road condition, 28th April
The outside lane of the northbound A38, between Kingsway Island and Markeaton Island, is in a dire state. Potholes and significant surface breakup have plagued this stretch for several months. In fact, the condition has deteriorated to the point where I’ve seen bombed aircraft runways in better shape.
Despite numerous reports to National Highways, no action has been taken so far. Vehicles now have to swerve at high speeds to avoid the problem sections. The road sections are so bad that they’re even triggering the collision sensors on my dashcam. If conditions worsen, it wouldn’t be surprising if they set off an airbag!
This situation urgently requires attention and repair. Let’s hope that authorities address it promptly.

Surface broken down in multiple places between, 25th April
Multiple places from Kingsway island to university turn on A38 north bound, road surface has broken down, very rough and deep in places. It is now limiting traffic along this busy A road and has effectively reduced this from 2 to 1 lane across this section as people try to dodge the damage, people weaving in and out to quickly avoid the damage. The damage has been here now since last year and is getting worse daily. The uneven road temporary signs that have gone up don’t give a true reflection of how bad the road is in this area.

The road surface from Grand Canyon roundabout to Markeaton roundabout in Lane 2 at various locations is dangerous., 22nd April
Your website says this has been reported several times by many others. I would ask your Route Manager to actually get out of the office and look at it themselves and not rely upon an Inspector who obviously thinks the intervention level is not met and believes the erection of a uneven road surface sign is ok

In at least 4 specific areas in the right hand lane of the A38 between the A5111 roundabout and Markeaton has a patch of road surface what looks just like this. We have several potholes in the close, and at least one is quite deep and continuing to grow. Other areas are likely to become worse over the next few months., 10th March
The road surface in the close has been seen by roadworks some time ago and at least one pothole was then deemed not to need attention. The continued development of the main one may be sufficient to cause some damage to vehicles during the next few months.

Poor road surface, 27th February
Road has been in a poor state for a few months and it has not been addressed. By the roundabout is even worse very uneven and throws cars about. Please National Highways resurface the right lane down to the roundaout. I think if something isnt done cars will start to collide avoiding this poor section of road.

Sunken drain covers, 26th February
At the Markeaton Island southbound there are drain covers that are badly sunk. This is dangerous for motorcyclists like myself and needs attention as soon as possible before a bad accident happens to someone. If a motorbiker is unaware of this and hits one at 30mph + whilst banking for the roundabout, they are very likely to come off. I'd be surprised if this hasn't happened before, these cover have been like this for some time.
