50 mph temporary limit, 10th August
No evidence of any continuing work on North or Southbound sections for several weeks but 50 mph "temporary" restrictions still in place "for your safety". Can the restrictions now be lifted? Lots of drivers ignoring it anyway & very frustrating for those of us who stick to restrictions.

I think an abandoned vehicle, 28th July
We saw this car on a walk today , could not see any damage to the locks to indicate it had been stolen but from its appearance ( dust and cobwebs on wing mirrors) it appears to have been there a while

Road markings worn away, 1st February
White line opposite agricultural track worn away. The line is to stop cars parking along that stretch of road to allow agricultural vehicles to turn at the top of the lane. It's worn in the middle so can't be seen anymore and cars continually parking there. This has been worn for a few years but parking becoming an issue more recently. The white line needs painting again. Must be completed before summer when the village gets incredibly busy.

Blocked Culverts, 21st April
There is water running across the road just below (on the Osmotherley side) View Point as indicated on the map. This comes from springs I believe on the West side of the road but is causing serious erosion of the retaining bank on the east side of the road. I believe that there are either one or two culverts under the road in this area which need clearing. This has been causing erosion for some months and I have reported it in the past but no action as been taken. I feel strongly that action should be taken before the road becomes unsafe. The road is quite busy because of people accessing Cod Beck resevoir.

Needs immediate attention, traffic very busy in the village, lots of cyclists, hole is several feet square, could cause serious damage to cars, possibility of loose cobbles flying up, not everyone keeps to speed limit. Several of the cobbles are lying on the grass verge, could be the work of vandals? The cobbles have been loose for some time, but now it is very very dangerous!

Broken cattle grid, 8th March
Cattle grid has badly broken metal grid in the centre. It is raised at one end and badly sunken at the other. This has been like this for at least 6 months now with the only concession to vehicle safety being 2 signs advising vehicles to slow down. If this was caused by a 3rd party contractor I am sure that NYCC would have enforced the repair by now. If any vehicle is damaged the repairs would cost more than the repair tp the cattle grid.

Cattle grid near greenhills farm, osmotherley. nycc highways put a "reduce speed now" sign there in sept 2015 and have failed to effect a repair presumably waiting for a vehicle to cause it to finally collapse, 3rd March
Seriously damaged and decaying cattle grid which nycc highways appear to have deemed safe despite them placing a "reduce speed now" sign there in sept 2015. just how long does it take to effect a repair. just get on with it, a damage to vehicle claim would cost much much more than the actual repair.

Water torrent in Osmotherley, nr Northallerton, 5th September
Water is gushing from a manhole downhill from an ex Water Authority chambe on North End, Osmotherley, DL6 3BE. This has been reported many times to NYCC Highways who have attended but never effected a cure. The Water Authority would appear to also have a responsibility to ensure that all overflows are contained. This overflow is cascading down a steep road and by-passes several gulleys before going underground. Action is needed before the onset of winter.
