Speed calming island destroyed, 19th January
Hello,
It looks like a car has gone over the speed calming island and destroyed the safety bollards again. This creates an issue at night as here are now no reflectors to identify the island and could cause further accidents.

1. The reinstatement around the newly installed manhole covers in Woolsington Drive which had subsided to a depth of around 2½ inches / 60mm has been ‘patch’ repaired (picture 1) 2. The square edges of the newly installed manhole covers in Woolsington Drive remain proud of the road surface by approximately 1 inch / 25mm (picture 2) 3. The grass verge at the bottom of Woolsington Drive that was dug up as part of the street works remains untouched and is now filled with weeds. 4. The trench that was dug into the footpath in Woolsington Drive from the Yarm Road roundabout, right up to the corner of Stansted Grove remains an eyesore (picture 3). 5. The situation on Woolsington Drive and Yarm Road roundabout which were both left littered with loose stones and chippings following the street works has been improved - the driver of a road sweeping vehicle that was operating close by was spoken to and he was asked if he would be happy to make a couple of passes over the areas concerned which to his credit he did.

Street Works - Woolsington Drive (Update 7th July 2023), 7th July
Further to the report and photographs posted on FixMyStreet on Monday 29th May 2023 which are revisited below:
Street works carried out by a sub-contractor to install a rising main on behalf of a Developer / Utility company which commenced on 01/11/2022 and was completed on 24/03/2023 have been left in the following state: A) Loose stones / chippings left over from the street works litter the Yarm Road mini roundabout with the potential of causing damage to private vehicles. B) The grass verge that was dug up as part of the works remains as it was left on completion of these works - no attempt has been made to return it to its original condition - Pic 1. C) The trench dug into the footpath in Woolsington Drive from the Yarm Road roundabout right up to the corner of Stansted Grove is an eyesore - Pic 2. D) The gutter in Woolsington Drive is filled with loose stones / chippings left over from the street works with the potential of causing damage to private vehicles. E) The square edges of the newly installed manhole covers in Woolsington Drive are now proud of the road surface and are littered with loose stones / chippings with the potential of causing damage to private vehicles - see Pic 3. F) The reinstatement around the newly installed manhole covers is already subsiding. And the update and photographs posted on Sunday 4th June 2023 revisited below: It should be noted that after suffering Six months of disruption and the associated mess, these street works had nothing whatsoever to do with our estate; the rising main installed (an ‘overflow’ apparently) has been inflicted upon us by a Developer / Utility Company so that sewage can be pumped from their new development uphill into our estates drainage system. It is both disgraceful and unacceptable that a that Developer in the process of building a new estate with its pristine footpaths and roads is allowed at the same to degrade the quality and amenity of the surroundings of those who unfortunately find themselves owning properties nearby – Developers and Utility companies should be forced to restore any footpaths, roads and grass verges that have been excavated and damaged during street works such as these back to their original condition and not leave them in such an appalling state. As of today, Friday 7th July 2023 it is advised that there has been no attempt to rectify any of the issues identified above – in fact by way of a further update, it should be noted that: 1. The reinstatement around the newly installed manhole covers has now subsided to a depth of around 2½ inches / 60mm (See ‘F’ above). 2. The square edges of the newly installed manhole covers in Woolsington Drive are even more proud of the road surface (See ‘E’ above). 3. The grass verge that was dug up as part of the works remains untouched (See ‘B’ above) 4. Woolsington Drive and the Yarm Road roundabout are still littered with loose stones and chippings (See ‘A’ & ‘D’ above). 5. Following additional street works carried out between 09/05/2023 and 19/05/2023 (for testing of the installation apparently which required a further excavation) the trench dug into the footpath in Woolsington Drive from the Yarm Road roundabout right up to the corner of Stansted Grove is even more of an eyesore (See C above). It states on the home page of Darlington Borough Council’s Street works website: “The Council also inspects a sample of the undertakers’ work to ensure that they are carried out in a safe manner to the required standard. Where defects are found the Council instructs the utility to carry out remedial works as appropriate.” That certainly doesn’t seem to be happening here.

Road left in unsuitable condition after drainage works, 3rd June
Please see photos. Road and pathways have been dug up and left in a terrible condition with a ledge that could damage cars. This area needs fixing and cleaning up. It is shocking quality the way this has been left for the adjacent residents as the work was nothing to do with this estate. Please direct the work to people that can finish this to a professional quality. Thanks

Grass destroyed by qorkmans vehicles, 3rd June
Hi, drainage works have been carried out near us to support a different development resting in our adjacent streets being left in ruins. The grass which is the entrance to our estate has been ruined and there have been no attempts to rectify this. This needs re-seeding of turfing again to return it to its condition prior to the drainage works being carried out. Thanks

Workman starting at 715am, 23rd March
Hi, I have previously contacted the council about workman starting before 8am adjacent to where we live. They are now cutting concrete etc at 715am. Nothing had been done by the council to enforce the 8am start time and they constantly flout your authority by starting before. This is not getting beyond a joke. The aggregation of issues now that has affected us due to developments we did not want next to our house is now really affecting us. Can you please advise how I escalate this beyond DBC as nothing to date has been done. Thanks
