Multiple potholes covering Northbound lane A689 Alston to Brampton, 5th February
From the start point going North on A689 there are several potholes across the road making safe passage impossible. Critical for cyclists and motorcyclists as they pose a danger to life. They are deep and sometimes hidden by water. I have slow puncture to my tyres after hitting these potholes. This has been at least 4-6 months. Many neighbours in my village of Slaggyford are concerned about this problem.

Give Way sign obscured by tall hedge, 18th September
The Give Way sign opposite the Fire Station in Alston is half obscured by a large hedge. Motorists cannot see it until they are almost up to it. I've reported this a number of times over the years - the owner of the hedge needs to be asked to keep the hedge cut back or the sign needs to be re-sighted.

Uneven, crumbling and broken surfaces, 18th September
The pavements in Alston are in a terrible condition. Tarmac surfaces are crumbling and uneven. Paving slabs are broken, loose and uneven. Utility manhole covers are sunk below paevment These are all trip hazards and as the pavements are very narrow in places, less than 18" wide, pedestrians can easily stumble into the roadway. I think if a council inspection was carried out they would agree with these comments.

Road drains blocked, 18th September
Road drains down Front St. are blocked with silt and grit. Rain water is flowing right down the road and, in places, over the pavement due to pavement kerbs being level with the road surface. This will cause dangerous ice conditions in winter

Cobbles loose, upended and road surface sinking in places, 27th October
Too many problems the whole length of Fore Street to photograph. We were told cobbles were due to be relaid last April 2016 but nothing has been done. Road is now in a dangerous condition affecting pedestrians, cyclists, motor cyclists and cars. Message sent to Cumbria County Council CEO over two years ago.

Parking on the footway causing obstruction, 3rd March
Cars and larger vehicles parking on a 3.2m wide footway blocking pedestrian access and requiring them to walk on the road. The carriageway at this point has double yellow lines as it is narrow, there is a giveway point directly opposite and the downhill direction narrows to single lane with reduced sight lines. There is also a fire station and access to a private garage which are blocked on a regular basis. I have communicated with the parish council, eden district council, county council, and the police over the past couple of years but to no avail. Have sent photos, suggested trief kerbs, bollards, planters and other measures, which could still leave the absolute minimum of 1500mm for pedestrian access, but have had no luck yet.
