I travel through these lights on a rather regularly and I've noticed, it's allowing 2 to 3 vehicles through, then changing, even if there is no traffic coming from the mirehouse rd side

Loose chipping and tar, 1st March
The road is full of loose chippings and tar from all the patching up that has been done. The complete road is absolutely disgraceful. Considering we probably pay more council tax than most other areas and we get nothing. I live on the lonning between the Summergrove junction and the farm and that is one of the worst parts on the road. The loose chippings and tar are ruining everything, including our car, my floors in my house (I have to de tar them every 2 weeks) my dogs get clogged up with it, I am having to cut their fur constantly. We don’t have pavements so have no choice but to walk on the road. It really is not acceptable and if it’s not sorted out I will be putting a claim in with the council. When the council have been out to sweep the road in the past they are only doing the edges which is no good, the whole of the road needs cleaned and not just around Summergrove halls either but right through the wood up to Sneakyeat farm. The last time I reported this Cumberland council said it wasn’t their department yet when I look on Copeland councils site there is no where I can report it hence why I am trying with this site again. If you reply to say it isn’t you again then could you please pass my enquiry onto the correct department as I have tried my best but no success. I really am begging now.

As I said above this pothole has been there quite a while & it is not possible to avoid it without getting too close to oncoming traffic. It is quite deep & fills with rainwater.

Large pothole, Cumberland Council have swiftly passed this off as a national highways issue. Pothole is big enough for car wheel to drop down into.

This well used stretch of pavement between Mirehouse Road and West Lakes Science park is already narrow. Vegetation is making it narrower and dangerous for pedestrians on a very busy road.

Traffic lights not staying on green long enough to let the traffic flow., 15th January
Traffic lights at the B5295 junction onto the A595. Traffic is building up causing congestion, drivers are getting frustrated and going through on red. I can't get out of my junction unless a kind driver lets me out, if they don't it's a long diversion of 2 miles to go right up the road and back down the bypass. This has been happening for 3-4 days.

Street light not working, 15th January
There is an ongoing problem with the street lighting at the junction of the A595 in West Cumbria with Scalegill Road, which is the main access to the village of Moor Row.
I understand the postcode at the junction is CA24 3JU.
When I was a member of the former Cumbria County Council (representing the area concerned) and served on the A595 working group between 2017 and 2023, we had a large number of discussions with National Highways about this junction. It was recognised as a dangerous junction, which is one of the reasons why the speed limit on this stretch of the A595 had been reduced from 60 to 50 and why there has been a proposal in development – though sadly it has never had funding allocated due to the cost – to improve this junction, in conjunction with the junction between the A595 and High House Hill (a road to St Bees) which is a few hundred yards to the south.
There is a bus stop on the A595 at this location, and many of the people who use this are elderly. Unfortunately, the northbound bus stop is on the Western side of the A595, e.g. the opposite side from the village where anyone boarding or alighting from a bus at this stop will almost certainly be coming from or going to, which means that people using this stop have to take their lives in their hands by crossing the busy and fast-moving A595 trunk road at a location where the curvature of the road means that visibility splays are not excellent. Traffic moving at speed can appear round the bends in the road only a few seconds before it reaches the junction and the point where people may be crossing.
This problem has now been exacerbated at night because the street lighting on the A595 in this area is not working, so what is a dangerous enough crossing of the A595 to or from the bus stop becomes even more dangerous at night due to poor visibility.
I understand that street lighting on the A595 is the responsibility of National Highways.
I would be most grateful if you could please arrange for the relevant team within National highways to look at the lighting of this junction area, particularly as it affects crossing the A595 to get to and from the bus stop, as a matter of urgency, starting with fixing the light which isn’t working.
