LED speed warnings not working and pelican crossing slow to react, 7th September
After witnessing a bad accident in Bigrigg a couple of weeks ago, the 4th within a 9 month period, I want to request that traffic management in the area is looked at carefully and measures implemented to control. I understand that thus is a major artery and the speed limit will not be lowered, but cameras should be installed to ensure the 40mph limit is adhered to. In the interim, the now defunct LED speed awareness signage at each end of the village should be reinstated. I would also request that the pelican crossing is adjusted to operate within 10 to 15 seconds of activation, as I have seen a lot of children and older people taking risks due to the unnecessary time delay. As a resident and regular dog walker, I have witnessed some of the worst driving in this area and looking at the accident statistics, it is only a matter of time before someone is killed or seriously injured.
