Not enough spaces, 21st August

Sun, 21 Aug 2016 13:55:56 +0100
55.604968 -2.76706

We have a big problem with parking in our street. Although not owned, the three space parking bay, next to my house has always been allocate to my house and my two neighbors. With all the houses up this end of the street, bar us, now owning more than one vehicle we are finding it impossible to park anywhere near our house. I know there's probably nothing that can be done as it's basically first come first served for spaces but I'm frightened there is going to be a major argument if nothing can be done. One of our neighbors works for the council and brings his work van home every night then parks their other two cars in the parking bay leaving no space for anyone.

Re-opening of pathway, 5th December

Fri, 05 Dec 2014 12:04:44 +0000
55.6121835473386 -2.79701967990116

When is the re-instated pathway between the car park on Glenfield Road West and the footbridge over Gala water at Dale street to be finished with the top layer of tar and re-opened to the public for access ? This pathway has been closed since 18/8/2014 and has caused a lot of disruption for people trying to reach Dale st, the college, the university, the industrial est (Netherdale) and as a lovely riverside walk for young families and elderly folk wishing to enjoy a local walk away from traffic. The pathway has been widened ant built, also new lamp standards installed - it only awaits the top coat of tar to finish but it seems work has ground to a halt as for the past 2 months nothing further has been done - no lamp fixings to lamp standards, no top coat of tar to finish the pathway ! Can we have this popular (previously) pathway and walkway finished and opened as soon as possible please as for 4 months it has been closed - surely time enough to reinstate the pathway ?

Deteriorating road surfaces - resurfacing needed, 5th December

Fri, 05 Dec 2014 11:52:46 +0000
55.612668 -2.797234

The roadway betwen the new railbridge at Glenfield Road West and the junction with Glenfield Road East is in a shocking state of dis-repair and in many places crumbling, there have been at least 3 previous visits to fill in the numerous holes and uneven drain/access covers but ALL have failed - due to the fact that tar has been dumped into the hole, smoothed over and left. This has resulted in the temporary repairs failing miserably as the underlying problem has NOT been rectified by repairing properly the faults in the road surfaces. A temporary repair by filling the hole with tar does not last long as with the flow of traffic over it dislodges it and the problem returns just as bad if not worse ! When are we to get the potholes and uneven drain/access covers fixed to a standard that means it can be classed as a road and not an off road experience ?

Fly tipping, 27th November

Thu, 27 Nov 2014 11:12:23 +0000
55.6143349863026 -2.77257637240596

Someone has fly tipped their garden rubbish and other waste right next to the bus stop on Hawthorn road where the number 7 bus turns around to head back down town. This is totally unacceptable and will continue unless something is done about it. The wood where is has ben dumped belongs to Langlee community but it doesn’t give anyone the right to dump their crap there. I posted a photo on the Scottish Borders council Facebook page and they gave me your link to report the problem. I want this stopped because it will only get worse like that report on the news last night about that site down in England.

Wonder if you have been able to do any more about the email i sent as regards the drop kerbs at the bottom of cochrane place and the a7 main rd. i wrote in jan 2009 and you were going to look into the matter, also recently i was talking to a wheelchair user who is unable to get up onto the pavement at this junction because there are no drop kerbs and has to travel along the side of the busy a7 which i,m sure would be very dangerous for him
