Multiple deep potholes in footpath/byway, 25th April

Thu, 25 Apr 2024 14:42:58 +0100
51.717095 -3.919639

There are two tarmac strips that comprise this footpath/byway (short stretch from circa this point up to cattle grid). It also provides very long standing vehicular access to a number of residential properties, many of which are located alongside it and have no other means of access. Surface was last replaced by National Grid after gas pipeline works in the area. Surface is now so bad though that maintenance is required, as it poses a risk to any walkers who may use it. At least one person has already fallen whilst out for a morning run. The footpath/byway is one adopted by the Council. Also the Council exercises vehicular rights over it to deliver services to residents, eg bin collections, etc.

Wall has been hit repeatedly by large vehicles and is collapsing, 26th March

Tue, 26 Mar 2024 09:25:33 +0000
51.701569 -3.928026

The retaining wall made of large round rocks has been repeatedly hit by HGV’s squeezing past each other and has pulled some large rocks out which are sitting in a large puddle which conceals the rocks. This has caused substantial damage to my vehicle which I will pursue a claim for. This road is not suitable for the volume of large traffic travelling on it daily.

Drainage problem, ongoing for months, 13th February

Tue, 13 Feb 2024 16:42:18 +0000
51.719748 -3.914274

First photo taken 18 October 2023 shows a blocked drain that is meant to capture water flow from a stream (not the visible drain in the photos, but the one near it - located as pinpointed on the map - and which is so badly blocked you cannot make out the grill or edges of it in the photos). Second two photos, taken 8 February 2024, facing the opposite way, show that the drain remains blocked, or has rapidly blocked again if emptied in the interim (it has been reported before), and that it is still flooding the road, damaging the surface, and potentially causing erosion to the valley side of the road (and maybe beneath it too?). Previously Council has emptied the blocked drain on multiple occasions, so seems likely the pipe running under the road away from the drain needs to be checked for blockage &/or collapse, plus bore size of pipe may need to be increased to cope with amount of water that it needs to transport? Urgent action required as road in question is essential to residents and businesses located in this valley.

Multiple problems with road surface between here and the Gellionnen turning, plus road surface issues on road from Gellionnen turn down to Pont Llechart, 14th January

Sun, 14 Jan 2024 13:08:28 +0000
51.718462 -3.915883

Roads in question were due to be resurfaced in 2019. Work was delayed at last minute owing to lorry (delivering to Mond works) getting lost & then stuck on the bridge (Pont Llechart). Delayed works are now desperately needed. Also there is a drain that keeps blocking, which suggests drainage pipe from that drain, under the road, (bottom of slope out of the village) needs to be checked by Council (&/or pipe bore widened). Road is only year round access available for most residents in the valley, including livestock farmers. Alternative routes often impassable/too dangerous to use during winter months (as well as heading elsewhere, not into the village) and are also not straight &/or wide enough to accommodate most livestock transportation vehicles. Important these roads are fixed soon, rather than left to deteriorate further, owing to negative commercial, public and private impacts, plus it is the statutory duty of the authority to maintain safe year round road access.
