Pot holes and side of road eroding, 23rd February

Fri, 23 Feb 2024 18:49:13 +0000
51.999133 -4.387751

Recent work at the lumber storage with large lorries hauling wood chip have created damage to the sides of the narrow road, along with worsening potholes and repairs while creating new ones, in places it seems dangerous to drive without getting stuck or damaged.

Unclassified road being abused, 26th January

Fri, 26 Jan 2024 18:18:55 +0000
51.997406 -4.38582

This unclassified road has been used for antisocial behaviour by off roaders for years casuing damage, we have had threats of violence from most users when confronted, especially when in big groups comprising of 8 vehicles using it and blocking the road/driveway. We have reported it to the police a few times and a large group have been warned vehicles can be seized if continued reports of antisocial behaviour come in. Damage with the wet weather caused a temporary gate to be erected with signage stating the damage and safety problem, though this was vandalised and signage removed. We have reported the issues to the council and have full backing from the locals to have the unclassified road that isn’t suitable for normal vehicle use to be turned into a restricted byway so the locals can again use it unhindered. Though the progress is slow.

Highway being obstructed, 10th December

51.997415 -4.385845

Myself and multiple other users have recently had issues at this location. A man living in the house has often come out abusive and in an intimidating manner before with his dog once on a trip I did last year. A friend has gone to use it today and has found the byway/ucr obstructed in this manner. On a previous visit another friend was told to "just f**k off". Please can this be resolved.

Yet even more dog kennels...., 1st May

Wed, 01 May 2019 21:31:09 +0100
52.016643 -4.399176

I've not been past this residence for a number of months because of the aggressive nature that generally happens when the residents of Temple Cottage are out.... tonight, I noticed yet more kennels have been built. Now, they have erected fencing panels and built even more on the side of the cottage. With small dogs yapping... As walking down the hill, even the small garage has been turned into more kennels.. when will CCC take the people to task for constant law breaking??? Why is it that the many, residents, have been allowed to be placed in such poor quality of life because of the noise which is constant 24/7. It's affecting nearly 60-70 households. It's a disgrace.... So please, can we, the residents have our quite, happy, peaceful and friendly village back...

Loss of public footpath, 24th February

Sun, 24 Feb 2019 15:46:36 +0000
52.016412 -4.40238

Whilst taking my dogs out for a walk on a Woollen mill trail that I've used for many years, I'd like to report that this has now been blocked off and closed. Along this walk a bridge used to span the river Esgair, however the sign states that the bridge has been washed away so there is no exit and a cordon has been placed around the entrance to the land blocking the right of way. I cannot understand how a perfectly built foot bridge, that has stood for over 100 years has simply disappeared..... It seems the building of horse training areas have taken place and to prevent people accessing the footpath it appears very convenient that the bridge has washed away and the entrance to the field and path blocked. Now with spring approaching I feel that the landowner should be hurried into reinstating the footpath at the most of earliest opportunities....

Big gone.., 24th December

Mon, 24 Dec 2018 13:49:03 +0000
52.015178 -4.401528

Whilst walking on Christmas Eve, I'd taken one of the old Willen trails that I've used many many times.... On this occasion whilst using this particular one I was shocked to see that an old bog had been totally whipped off the map.... A house mange type exercise yard had been put on the top of it.... It used to be a breeding ground for toads, frogs and even newts...... The spoil is banked up and you can still make out the left over bog within the soil.... How has this been allowed to happen???

Noisey dogs24/7., 10th June

Sun, 10 Jun 2018 21:39:33 +0100
52.0167 -4.398648

Good evening, I reported to yourselves about the ongoing noise nuisance coming from this property. The property is called Temple cottage on the outskirts of Drefach Velindre. Sadly the sounds of dogs barking is totally disgraceful and is affecting a fair number of villagers. I received the forms to log when the said noise happens however I found this to be extremely pointless. The whole logging sheet would of been completed within one day because of the frequency of the dogs barking. It is constant. Because we've had super weather its extremely infuriating to have to sit inside with the windows and doors closed just to keep the noise at bay. This is totally infringing on my and my fellow villagers human rights. How can one person's actions be continually allowed to just carry on and not be sorted out. I was walking past with my six year old daughter few nights ago and the dogs started barking. Then, from an open window a female voice shouted stop that Fucking barking, shut it, shut it. Never should any child be witness to such disgraceful language. Please, I would like the relevant council personnel to come and monitor the noise and take what appropriate action should be taken.

Dog noise, 8th May

Tue, 08 May 2018 11:35:33 +0100
52.016583 -4.398978

Dear Sir/Madam. Since living in the village of Drefach Velindre for quite some years thankfully it's a wonderful place to live. However, whilst taking my children on our walks when approaching a property called Temple Cottage there's a massive amount of dog noise. Firstly, we put it down to dogs being out in the fields being exercised. But, if anything I have now noticed the noise levels are at a high level. It's basically 24/7. With the nice weather over the bank holiday weekend most of it was spoilt with the constant noise. When walking past there seems now to be more canine accommodation being built and already erected within the property fields. My children will now not walk past because they feel scared and intimidated because of the levels of noise and also the ferocious sounding nature of them. Also, how with so many dogs being housed there surely there should of been some type of legislation to allow this amount of animals to be allowed to be there.

Dog waste, 25th March

Fri, 25 Mar 2016 20:47:36 +0000
52.016222 -4.394312

Whilst walking this route between Drefach Velindre and Drefelin daily I have noticed that there is an awful amount of dog waste. The whole area around Velindre with its woollen mill trails seem to be awash with this persistent problem. The local area is quite renowned for the trails, but imagine being a visitor to the Area and your only memories of the visit is not the mills, views and people you meet but the dog waste that coats the footpaths and roadways. Please also can dog waste bins be provided on the road from Velindre to Drefelin.
