Poor poor parking..., 4th June

Fri, 04 Jun 2021 21:24:55 +0100
52.018557 -4.399458

Hello, I'd like to bring to your attention the problem with the influx of holiday makers parking on the street. I live just above the B and B Education Center which is situated in a house called Glen View, Drefach Velindre... Since the lockdowns been lifted people from all over the UK have stayed here. This I feel is good for West Wales. However, how can this business pass planning when the car parking is tight when it's only the residents cars being parked?? Surely this would of been taken into account when the officers looked at the application?? I just hope that Emergency veichles can get through because of the tightness of the road. It's a accident waiting to happen....

Deadly for children..., 9th April

Fri, 09 Apr 2021 20:42:04 +0100
52.018284 -4.398486

I would like to bring to your attention the dangers of the new bridge spanning Nant Bargoed. Swarf from drilling has been left and tails from self tapping fasteners in the river and riverbank. For many years children including my own have paddled in and around the river. Whilst fishing out said items I looked under the bridge, I was totally amazed that someone would leave self tapping fastener tails for a child to potentially impale their skull or other body part on them. Also the hazard of the steps either side. I know that a man fell and suffered a cut to his cheek on the 08/04/21. I treated and drove him back to his house. This would never have happened if temporary ramps were built to stop it being a trip hazzard. Where on earth is the health and safety????

Overflowing bin..., 16th June

Tue, 16 Jun 2020 11:47:31 +0100
52.018557 -4.399783

I understand that we are in extremely strange and worrying times. However, I've been approached by one of my neighbours with a particular problem. Sadly the bin situated along side the house called Angorfa hasn't been emptied for a number of weeks. The old lady said that is stinking and she cannot open her windows because of the smells. Please could we try and get the said bin changed on a more regular occasion. please.....

Abandonded litter bin? Often overflowing, 29th February

Sat, 29 Feb 2020 16:04:30 +0000
52.008964 -4.362851

The old County Council removed many public litter-bins in the mid-1970s, this one on the junction between the A484 and A486 seems forgotten. Rubbish is still dumped in and around the bin. As much of the rubbish is bagged, I suspect excess domestic rubbish is dumped here by people aware of this bins location. If this bin stays then it must be emptied more regularly, it seems to get emptied "randomly", maybe once a month. Maybe if the council cannot afford to empty it regularly it should be removed.

Late night noise...., 3rd August

Sat, 03 Aug 2019 14:32:09 +0100
52.018961 -4.399759

I would like to bring to your attention about the current late night noise that residents are facing on an nightly basis. I live oppersite the John Yr Gwas Public house in Drefach Velindre. At 22:40 on 02/08/19 loud music was being played. This carried on until the public house closed at 01:25. It's summer time and because of this noise we are unable to open windows to allow cooler air in the bedrooms. Also, people standing out the front of the pub swearing and flicking cigarette ends around the street. I made a complaint last Sunday night regarding the trouble which happened then. What do we do?????? Surely in the 21st century residents should be able to open windows on an hot summer night!!!!!!!!!! Without having to listen to late night noise......... Do I know start taking the situation into my own hands????????

Yet more antisocial behaviour...., 29th July

Mon, 29 Jul 2019 14:16:58 +0100
52.018841 -4.399756

Yet again people who live around the public house called the John Yr Gwas in Drefach Velindre have been subjected to drunken and disgraceful language. This is happening on an weekly basis. Families live here, yet, this behaviour seems now to be the norm. Also, late night noise and smokers going out front flicking the used tabs in gardens and on roads. Being unable to open your windows at night because either the smell of cigarette smoke or foul language wafts through open windows. We, as homeowners should be allowed to live in our homes and not be subject to disgraceful and abhorrent behaviour......

More traffic/people close calls....., 15th June

Sat, 15 Jun 2019 21:10:13 +0100
52.01884 -4.39978

I would like to bring to your attention yet again about the speeding and close calls around Ysgol Penboyr, Drefach Velindre. Last week a woman was hit from behind by an speeding driver.... Thankfully, it was 40 mins before the school had ended for the day. I went to collect my oldest daughter from Newcastle Emlyn on Friday and I must congratulate CCC for finally releasing funds for the 20MPH zone and also speed bumps and a pavement from gate to crossing some 350 meters down the hill..... I've emailed before about the crazy speeds drivers try and achieve whilst trying to get airborne off the humpback bridge situated out side the school gates..... Drefach Velindre especially turning right out of the school gates there is about 10 meters of footpath before your walking on the road. Surely it's about time the speed limit is bought down to 20MPH and traffic calming measures are put in place, ie Priority signs over single track humpback bridge, humps, to slow down the idiots who are continuing to flout the speed limit. And also, more pavements. It must be one of the last schools in Camarthenshire not to have the above mentioned carried out......

Sat, 01 Jun 2019 10:54:04 +0100
52.018796 -4.399662

I've reported this nuisance before... Yet again over the last few weeks, late night noise, people taking a leak, swearing and shouting. It's loud enough to wake my 7 year old daughter and make her fell extremely scared. This happened at 03:00hrs on the 01/06/19.. Also, standing outside the public house and flicking tab ends all around the front of the John Yr Gwas..... It's a built up area and why should the residents be woken up by drunken people.....

Yet even more dog kennels...., 1st May

Wed, 01 May 2019 21:31:09 +0100
52.016643 -4.399176

I've not been past this residence for a number of months because of the aggressive nature that generally happens when the residents of Temple Cottage are out.... tonight, I noticed yet more kennels have been built. Now, they have erected fencing panels and built even more on the side of the cottage. With small dogs yapping... As walking down the hill, even the small garage has been turned into more kennels.. when will CCC take the people to task for constant law breaking??? Why is it that the many, residents, have been allowed to be placed in such poor quality of life because of the noise which is constant 24/7. It's affecting nearly 60-70 households. It's a disgrace.... So please, can we, the residents have our quite, happy, peaceful and friendly village back...

Loss of public footpath, 24th February

Sun, 24 Feb 2019 15:46:36 +0000
52.016412 -4.40238

Whilst taking my dogs out for a walk on a Woollen mill trail that I've used for many years, I'd like to report that this has now been blocked off and closed. Along this walk a bridge used to span the river Esgair, however the sign states that the bridge has been washed away so there is no exit and a cordon has been placed around the entrance to the land blocking the right of way. I cannot understand how a perfectly built foot bridge, that has stood for over 100 years has simply disappeared..... It seems the building of horse training areas have taken place and to prevent people accessing the footpath it appears very convenient that the bridge has washed away and the entrance to the field and path blocked. Now with spring approaching I feel that the landowner should be hurried into reinstating the footpath at the most of earliest opportunities....
