Merlins Hill and the road to Gilfach y Rhew is in a deplorable state. It is littered with pot holes and the side of the road are washed away. It needs to be inspected and re-surfaced. Stamping in aggregate (which seems to be the option of choice) is ineffective . Carmarthen council needs to question the cost residents pay monthly in council tax as there are no street lights and residents in Gilfach y Rhew drive 1 mile to leave rubbish to be collected The number of potholes means the road is now becoming dangerous and many of the pot holes are unavoidable. The road needs resurfacing badly.

Merlins Hill has many potholes, 11th January
These pot holes have already resulted in costing me 2 new tyres. The road is becoming impassable. It has not been resurface in excess of 0 plus years!

Very bad pot holes at Alltyfyrrdin farm . In fact Merlin's Hill from the museum all the way up is in dreadful condition, 10th May
This road has been bad for months. I have had punctures because of it. Previous repair lasted 2 weeks. Road needs to be properly resurfaced from Carmarthen museum all the way past Alltyfyrrdin farm

Regular pothole needs filling again, 21st January
This pothole is mended every so often, but the repair doesn' last very long, and it needs repairing again now. It is on the left as you take the left turn towards Gilfach-y-rhew

Pothole has caused damage to car wheel, 21st January
I reported potholes here a while back, but nothing was done. One of the potholes is now much deeper. It is not easy to see as it is on the left, soon after a bend in the lane as you drive SW down the hill. Not knowing how much deeper it has become, I caught it the other day and damaged the wheel of my car. Please fill it asap. Thank you

There are around 4 to 5 potholes in the road by Peniel school with one centre pothole which has increased in size and will cause damage to vehicles driving on the road by the school

Plastic bags & bottles thrown into lower reservoir, 13th August
This evening I went to the reservoir for a walk & was horrified to see that somebody has thrown a plastic carrier bag & several plastic drink bottles into the lower reservoir (2 BINS nearby) This is heartbreaking as not only does it spoil the beauty of the place but it endangers the ducks & other wildlife

On the left hand side heading towards Bronwydd, before the temporary traffic lights. The tarmac around the drain at the side of the road has given way and the pothole cannot be avoided if there is oncoming traffic.

Temporary Traffic Lights, 3rd September
Two sets of temporary traffic lights within half of a mile of each other on A484 have now been there for almost 7 months. There has not been any sign of activity to repair the side section of the road that has fallen away. Whilst this will require some engineering work rather than just filling a pothole, the time taken by Carmarthenshire County Council to repair this damage is extremely poor and typical of my observations of the unreasonable delays encountered every time repair work is required. The inconvenience for drivers having to wait at both sets of lights every day for 7 months is unacceptable. Even some form of communication at the lights to let drivers know how much longer the lights will be there would help.

Fly posting by Chipperfields Circus on advertising boards belonging to the Gwili Railway., 28th July
Posters were fly posted on an advertising board belonging to the Gwili Railway by Chipperfields Circus. This was witnessed at 18.00 hours yesterday, Wednesday 27th July. The advertising board is near the A485 dual carriageway, Carmarthen by-pass.

Pavement parking obstructions, 20th October
Up to a dozen or more cars park on and obstruct the pavement on the east side of the A484 between its junction with Abergwili Road and its junction with the A485 (Dolgwili Road). This would force people with push-chairs , buggies or prams out into the carriageway which is frequently busy with traffic, thus endangering lives of pedestrians. This problem also occurs on the A484 beyond its junction with the A485 (Dolgwili Road) This problem usually/always occurs when there are clinics at the West Wales Glangwili Hospital, Carmarthen - usually Tuesdays/Wednesdays but can be other days as well. There is an URGEND NEED for the installation of double-yellow lines on these stretches of the A484 to render this stretch of road safe for pedestrians and to return pavements to their intended/porper use. Crossing the A484 to the pavement on the opposite side of the raod is often dangerous, because of the frequency and speed of the traffic (many ignore the 30mph limit – which exacerbates the problem.).
