Blocked access and removal of a gate to open access land and a footpath., 6th September

Mon, 06 Sep 2021 13:35:03 +0100
53.258708 -1.768393

Blocked access and removal of a gate to open access land and a footpath. Someone has removed the gate and blocked access with wood, barbed wire and build up the wall, to a short path that connects two pieces of open access land In Tideswell Dale (a SSSI) near the old quarry. This path has been used for over twenty year to access this land and provide access to a 1920's school and field study centre at Litton mill. Its is also likely that it was use by people at Litton mill to access the quarry and Tideswell over a hundreds of years. There is still evidence of the gate latch and the Peak Park sighs attached to the old gate posts. This route was regularly use by both walkers and a local fell race since 2014. The gate is clearly marked on the sign at the entrances to Tideswell Dale as an access point to the adjacent land. Whilst the path is not marked on the map it's continued use for such along period will have established it as a right of way. What Tree Words Location ///digestion.variety.unsettled

Parking next to the cash machne is getting out of hand, 18th September

Fri, 18 Sep 2020 18:44:55 +0100
53.277958 -1.773887

Parking has become more and more inconsiderate around the area of the old bank - I have just photographed a Range Rover parked so far on the pavement that a pedestrian with a pram, or a disabled person would have had to walk in the road to get past. Using the cash machine there was not 2 metres of pavement available for social distancing. There were parking spaces available just along the street.

Inappropriate use of traffic cones, 6th September

Sun, 06 Sep 2020 09:32:56 +0100
53.277729 -1.773898

Local shop has started to use traffic cones to reserve three car parking spaces. The shop closes at lunch time on Saturday and the cones appear. They stay in place until Monday morning. This is a small Peak District village where parking is a problem. The shop is located in a pinch point, where visibility is poor. This causes oncoming traffic to mount the mount the pavement, and on a number of occasions cars have clipped their wing mirror on the house opposite.

Potholes on roadside caused by vehicle encroachment., 7th November

Thu, 07 Nov 2019 12:29:06 +0000
53.262409 -1.756068

Vehicle encraochment onto the verge causes the culverts (which are only dug though the earth bank) to collapse, leading to deep pooling, and eventually heavy water flow down the roadside. There are several culverts between New Houses and Litton Cemetery, and most are again blocked.

Deep potholes on narrow road, 30th September

Mon, 30 Sep 2019 09:30:18 +0100
53.267663 -1.759743

Bottomhill Road, leaving Litton, a couple of hundred yards, before the junction near the cemetary. Deep potholes on both sides of narrow, single-track road. No choice; Either hit one or the other, or for motorists not familiar with the road – Both! They were marked back in the Spring, but unlike others nearby, which were filled, these for some reason, never got sorted, despite being worse than some of the others.

This pothole was repaired last year, but has opened up again. It causes drivers who have seen it to pull over to the right (if approaching Litton) into the path of oncoming vehicles, or those who have not seen it to risk damage to tyres and wheels.

Obstruction of entry into Little Lane., 12th April

Tue, 12 Apr 2016 21:27:46 +0100
53.27235 -1.759616

Entry to Little Lane is obstructed by parked cars, a path and a tree. It is my understating that Little Lane is a byway open to all traffic, yet both forks are regular blocked by parked cars and one fork is permanently blocked by a tree and a raised path. The grass shown in the photo is village green and the parish council are enforcing the requirement to not drive or ride on the grass. As this route is regularly used by riders of motorbikes, bicycles and horses these obstructions cause damage to the village green and obstruct the lane. The parish council have request the remove of anything private on the green which includes the path and also anything that makes the green look like private property which the path, a tree and turf do.
