Car has been parking on double yellow line by road junction., 7th April
A local business has been parking their company vehicle on the double yellow line at the junction of Millers Lane and High Street in Stanstead Abbotts, and it’s been causing traffic build-up on the main road because it’s making it difficult to turn into Millers Lane. It is also blocking visibility of the main road when trying to turn out of Millers Lane. They have been parking in this location consistently for the past three weeks.

Request for Clarification and Resolution on Unjustified Traffic Disruptions Due to Non-Active Road Works, 4th April
To my frustration and probably other road users with the temporary three-way traffic lights installed in our area for road works that seem non-existent. These lights have caused significant and unnecessary congestion, with no visible work being done and no communication provided to residents about the duration or purpose of these disruptions.
This situation appears to be in violation of the Traffic Management Act 2004, which requires local authorities to manage their road networks in a manner that minimizes inconvenience to the public. Furthermore, the lack of communication contradicts the Department for Transport’s guidance, which emphasizes the need for local authorities to inform and manage public expectations during road works.
The absence of transparency and the resulting inconvenience is unacceptable. Under the Highways Act 1980, Section 58, local authorities have a duty to maintain public highways in a condition suitable for use. The continued presence of these traffic lights, without any apparent reason or active work, not only causes unnecessary congestion but also potentially breaches this duty by not ensuring the efficient management of traffic flow.

Pothole at the junction of Castle road and castle close Hoddesdon, 14th February
Pothole appeared a few months back, it was reported, but very poorly repaired, in fact two of the smaller holes right next to the large one wasn’t even addressed !!. Consequently the larger hole has reappeared, the two smaller holes have now started to get bigger & break down too leaving shingle and small stones scattered all over the road.

Van parking on double yellow lines, 5th February
A resident continually parks his van on a double yellow line on Lawrence Avenue Stanstead Abbotts. It is causing traffic issues and he does it every single day. It is an Enterprise Van BW21FMJ. He only has to move it forward a little bit to avoid the double yellow lines it is like he is making a point and knows he won't get a ticket!

Large branches falling off trees, require pruning, 3rd January
Several large trees outside mine and neighbouring properties have not been pruned or pollarded on over six years amd regularly drop large branches onto the street and my driveway posing a danger to pedestrians. Large numbers of school children walk past daily to the nearby secondary school and it appears to only be a matter of time before someone is injured

Fly tipping and abandoned trailing , trailer/caravan, 21st September
There is fly tipping , rubbish bags and a old trailer full of rubbish . Plus a trailervan that has rubbish all around it .
This is B3 living land but they keep saying it’s the councils this has bed. Going on for over a year.
It is a health and safety issue along with environmental issue. Probably a fire risk too .

Rude workers., 19th September
I was walking to the train station with my partner and baby (in buggie) when we came down to the roundabout where one of your vans was parked covering the entire path. I gave the workers a thumbs up and said good job blocking the whole pathway the which this disgruntled little man held he's hand on the horn and threw he's hands up in the air and then got out of the van being very aggressive and rude shouting what's your problem! I'm higway maintenance I can park where I like now fuck off! This action from this small individual surprised me as he could see the struggle it was for us to get past this lazy boy. Both men were sat with feet up scrolling on their phones as we past so they were hardly hard at work. This attitude and response is completely unacceptable and I expect to be contacted about this matter ASAP.

Parking barriers smashed down so vehicles park on footpath, 30th June
The wooden parking barriers opposite the community centre have been smashed down by drivers, so now there is nothing to stop them parking over the footpath. This is a problem because it forces pedestrians, pushchairs and mobility scooters out onto Hoddesdon Road, which is dangerous because it is a busy road where vehicles travel on the wrong side because of the need to pass parked cars.

Parking barriers smashed so cars park on footpath, 12th June
The parking barriers on Hoddesdon Road opposite the community building have been smashed down by drivers, and drivers now regularly park over the footpath forcing pedestrians, pushchairs and mobility scooters out onto the road. This is very dangerous due to the narrow road, high speeds, and other parked cars affecting traffic flow. The parking barriers need to be replaced to stop vehicles parking over the footpath.
