Lighting column missing Lantern, 12th February
A34 southbound merge slip road from the A30 eastern roundabout, a lighting column within the splitter island is missing its lantern which may reduce luminance on the carriageway and heighten the risk of collisions during darkness hours. It is recommended that a lantern is added to the lighting column at the earliest opportunity.

Trees with ash die back, 2nd October
There are a number of trees in this location, outside of our boundary, with ash die back as identified during a recent tree survey. These trees are also in an area where there is an overhead power line. SSE have recently identified that at least one of the power line supporting poles needs to be replaced (SSE reference MM2404). These factors combined give an increased risk of the power line and/or the trees becoming problematic. This issue was first identified about a month ago.

Unauthorised access to Northbound Services, 24th July
Hi there. Who would I need to talk to concerning the unauthorised access onto the northbound service station. This access is only for emergency vehicles and is located off Barton Drove just off the A30. There is a barrier but is kept permanently open and there is unauthorised traffic entering and exiting from the service station. Please can you advise who is responsible for ensuring unauthorised traffic is not gaining access this way.

Lots of litter along the length of the A34 from Winchester to the M40. I don't know what impression this gives to visitors to our country - a very poor one I expect. Please can this be cleaned and regularly.

Poor diversion signing of overnight closure of northbound A34, 10th January
I travelled from Bournemouth to Newbury at 12pm last night. There was no advance warning of the northbound overnight closure of A34 between Bullington Cross an Litchfield. For a high-impact road closure I would expect advance warning of this closure on the M3 NB and M27 gantry signs. However, the first I found out about it is when I came to the bollards and the road closure. To make matters worse, the diversion signing then disappears when you get on the A303 EB. You've no idea how long to stay on the A303. Turns out it is many miles onto the A30, although I wasn't made aware of this. Bear in mind drivers can't rely on their car Sat Nav's as they are fighting against the diversion, trying to direct the vehicle back onto the closed section of the A34. Please take an urgent look at setting up advance warning signs for this overnight closure using overhead gantry signs. Also put a few more signs on the A303 EB to better explain the route and diversion distances. I got off the A303 too early and got totally lost.

On the road to rejoin the A34 northbound carriageway from Sutton Scotney Services there is a lamppost which is leaning at a dangerous angle over the road and the lower, transparent cover of the light itself is hanging open. It is where the road bends to the right.
