Blocked drains and other issues, 19th January
The problems start at the very top of the hill. The drains above our house are never emptied properly or at all some years. Will White did dig out the one at the top of our drive during the worst floods pre-Christmas.
There are springs on The Callow which flood across the road.
When the Road was resurfaced a number of years ago the contractors dragged the verge to the road. It was obvious that as vehicles pull onto the verges they would collapse, causing damage to the inside of tyres. I have seen vehicles stuck spinning their tyres. The verge above our house got worn out post pandemic when cars were parking there. Stones are washed down into the drains.
The other major problem drain is the one at the base of the back carpark at Abels Harp. I’m expecting to see that one completely collapsed in. I’m surprised it hasn’t already. It seems to be sinking almost by the day.
