Dangerous crossroads, 18th December
Yet another accident at this site recently. The visibility is so bad here. If you are approaching this crossroads from Hodthorpe you literally cannot see oncoming vehicles to the right due to a combination of hedges obstructing the view and dips in the road. The lack of speed calming provisions adds additional difficulty here as plenty of drivers do not observe the 50mph limit. It actually feels safer crossing this junction in darkness as the headlights allow you to detect oncoming traffic you otherwise cannot see during daylight. You need to encroach onto the junction to ensure it’s safe to pull out which is a danger in itself. How many more accidents need to occur here before something is done?
