Further degeneration of the road., 26th April

The whole of station road, the entrance to Thornbrook Gardens and Arundel road, and Commerce street, and the whole of the roundabout and the exits from that roundabout to Ecclesfield road and Cowley lane is full of pot holes and is crumbling. Driving over it dangerous for cars but for motor cycles and pedal cycles it is more so as other vehicles are swerving to avoid them. I have been reporting these for the last three months and it continues to get worse and worse. patching it is not working as it just comes out again. Driving over it all is causing my arthritis to flare and it is extremely painful at times and I have had one passenger that ended up being slammed into the side of my car because of the depth of the whole.

Road continues to crumble, 17th April

Station Road in Chapeltown has now reached new depths - literally with the subsurface clearly visible in places. However, I could not get my hat on when I was the the bottom of Yew Lane and Stocks Hill in Ecclesfield, which aside from a few minor looking defects was being resurfaced! Really, a B road gets resurfaced, whilst a main A Road - A6135 looks more like , well, a farm track (apologies to farmers by the way) that a strategic road. Come on SSC/Streets Ahead, get your head in the game and fix this dangerous highway once and for all, please!!!!

A danger to all road users, 10th April

This area of Station Road is a deathtrap. The road surface has failed. It has failed - no other words for it. It is literally only a matter of time before some one is seriously injured, or worse on this joke of a road. Is it lack of interest from SCC/Street Ahead? Negligence? Or the face this area and Lib Dem and Conservative representation that means the area is being punished. It has to be one of these three. The road has been yellow paint marked twice with next to no action. What few "repairs" have been made have also failed. The roundabout at the Station Road/Cowley Lane junction is literally a joke - most of the material used when it was resurfaced and no left the area in the tread of tyres and there is no surface left on most of it. We know these are forwarded to SSC/Street Ahead. Own the problem, fix it or when the inevitable happens expect the legal action that will certainly be coming your way. The evidence does not lie! Stop stalling and just get the flipping work done.

Getting sick and tired of swerving to avoid potholes here. Major accidents will occur as there is clear and present danger to all road users. Most drivers i've spoken to say their concentrating more on looking for potholes than watching the road. How can Sheffield council accept this shoddy work from Amey??

This area of Station Road is a deathtrap. Any cyclists, pedestrians, car or bike users AVOID. They've "filled" some potholes that were at least 4 inches deep and now the filling ( only done a week or so ago) is coming loose. An absolute discgrace on a major road into Chapeltown.

Yet another reporting of huge pot hole causing vehicles damage, 5th April

Fri, 05 Apr 2024 10:33:15 +0100
53.463974 -1.464957

This post was made by my friend on January 31st and again a virtually identical post on 14th February. Reported via desktop in the Roads/highways category by Jo Green at 08:52, Wednesday 31 January 2024 Sent to Sheffield City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5513560. The road surface on Station Road, Chapeltown is no longer fit for purpose. Relaid around 5 years ago, the top surface is crumbling and come away. The road is littered with pot holes and covered in loose debris. The stretch from Commerce Street to Cart Lane is becoming a heavily furrowed mess with homes invisible to cyclists when it rains. An accident just waiting to happen. I have already reported tis twice but no sign of anyone attending to assess. I have also involve Miriam Cates, the local MP. A case worked has airway been to look and made comment back to Miriam. Remember, the council is liable for any injury/damaged caused by this issue, which it is airway aware of. Since then no repairs have been made although clearly SSC/Streets Ahead are aware of the issue as yellow paint has been applied and re-applied last month - the second time over a larger area because, guess what, the hole just got a lot bigger!! I am aware there are several claims in with SSC regarding damage to vehicles. You are aware of the issue therefore liable to claims for any such damages. Happy days

Pot holes still here over a month after being 'yellow marked', 3rd April

Wed, 03 Apr 2024 09:10:41 +0100
53.46447 -1.464893

The whole of Station Road, Chapeltown (A6135) has a series of yellow marked pot holes which were marked up over a month ago, with new ones marked up last week. Still no sign of any action and several are a clear and present danger to the public. Note as SSC/Streets ahead are aware of these issues, liability for damage or injury rests with them also!

Large area of road surface coming away daily, 22nd March

Fri, 22 Mar 2024 09:05:55 +0000
53.461316 -1.465928

This is another area of shoddy workmanship which is coming away. At the end of Ecclefield Road as it approached the roundabout at Cowley Lane. From the roundabout to just beyond the end of Smith Street the road has been patched. The original surface which is left is coming off in chunk, especially where the road is narrowest under the railway bridge. The patches too are now coming off. This is the main A6135 and vehicles are swerving madly to avoid the pot holes and defects, but as it is a narrow piece of carriage way so this practice though necessary is dangerous, but we all have to do it. How much longer before Streets Ahead get's it's finger out and actually gets Amey on site and fixes these and all of the other issues, £2.2 Billion is a lot of money but we are not seeing the benefits.
