Road is starting to collapse, 13th December

Wed, 13 Dec 2023 20:04:24 +0000
51.17212 -0.390953

The road has started to collapse where there is a main manhole in the road. All the drains in the road are blocked apart from one. They have not been cleaned out for years, although the council say they have but I live in this road and use it all day long. I'm not stupid. They continually have to repair the same potholes at this location but I told them some time ago the manhole was spurting out water. Its now subsiding.it will continue to sink if nothing is done. This could be a major repair already and it will be if the manhole collapses any further.

Missing circa 3m section of kerb stone, 22nd June

Wed, 22 Jun 2022 16:11:29 +0100
51.178296 -0.40848

There are 3 missing kerbstones on the B2126 northbound carriageway. The remaining kerbstone is a dangerous protrusion which has already caused nearly £600 of damage to my car (and according to residents of the nearby Hopedene Farm, damage to 4 or 5 other vehicles in recent months). The council are evidently aware of the problem as there is evidence that someone has sprayed red paint to mark the area, though these small, faint marks are not visible when you are behind the wheel concentrating on the road ahead.

Dangerous pot hole on bend in road, 17th January

Fri, 17 Jan 2020 08:24:19 +0000
51.161201 -0.38699

The pothole has slowly been getting bigger. At least one car was damaged by it yesterday (I don't know how much), but I was fortunate. It is particularly dangerous because it is on the inside of a bend, just where car tyres and cyclists go, and you cannot see it until too late. (B2126 Ockley Road, between Forest Green and the Etherley Hill turning, on the north side of the road)

Water draining from Holmbury Hill runs down lane along ditch and should flow under road at culvert. Drain totally blocked with leaves, clay soil and debris causing flood across road every time it rains and very high water level in ditch. The residents nearby are of pensionable age and unable to shift the obstruction. This area bears the brunt of all the water running down the lane. Pedestrians and horses use the lane. It will be very slippery when frosty. It is starting a flood adjacent land too. Please help.

5 inch pothole on edge of road, 11th July

Tue, 11 Jul 2017 16:39:04 +0100
51.170162 -0.379394

This pothole is located on the left hand side approaching Leith Hill on a slight bend where the road narrows. A large rock overhangs this pothole which can't be seen when approching due to overhanging trees blocking the light. If you meet another vehicle at this point and they even slightly cut the corner in the split second you have to avoid a collision you keep as far left as possible but unbeknown to you there is a pothole which drags you in to the protuding rock causing severe damage to your vehicle. Looking at all the marks on the rock it looks like this has happened numerous times. The pothole is 5" deep 8" wide.

Pot holes and broken edges all along stretch of road, 23rd June

Tue, 23 Jun 2015 13:30:03 +0100
51.174839 -0.408094

Particularly at edges with sharp/deep fall. Would definitely damage wheels. Along a narrow road this is particularly dangerous.Damage stretches intermittently from Holmbury St. Mary's to the Ockley road junction. Caused by poor edging and large vehicles breaking the tarmac at the edges as they pull over to avoid on coming vehicles in this narrow stretch.

Several potholes on approach to parking area on left (not the off-road car-park on right). The most significant one is about 80mm deep. It has been there for at least two weeks. Sorry I couldn't report it earlier - I needed to return to the spot for a photograph and to pinpoint the location.
