40mph now permanent?, 10th April
Residents of Godmanchester have just been informed by one or their councillors that the "temporary" 40mph speed limit will now be permanent. Can National Highways confirm this is correct, as this does not seem to align with the following: 1) The temporary restriction was in place for barrier repair works (which seem to have been delayed due to transfer of ownership of the A1307 to Cambridgeshire County Council. These were may be carried out in March 2023); and 2) During the A14 Improvement Schemes, signs were installed on the Eastbound carriageway from Huntingdon to Godmanchester showing a national speed limit sign (these were covered up due to point 1) This issue has been plaguing residents of Godmanchester and Huntingdon for far too long. Please can National Highways and Cambridgeshire County Council issue a joint response on when they intend to make the repair works and their intentions on the permanent speed limit once the works are completed.

Godmanchester to Huntingdon A1307, 10th March
When are the 40mph signs going to be removed? Its frankly lethal. 50mph would be better or even back to previous speeds.. I've lost count how many times I've nearly been rear ended attempting to get down to 40.

Temporary speed limit still in place, 29th January
Hi. The temporary speed limit is still in place along this road is still in place waiting approximately 2years for the central reservation barriers to be fixed. Whilst I appreciate these things take time 2 years seems quite a lot. Can you please confirm that you intend to do the work and haven’t just ignored it so you have evidence to permanently downgrade the road

40mph signs still in place on A1307 St Ives to Huntingdon and vice versa, 21st August
Is the 40mph speed limit necessary here as has been like this for months with no sign of any safety improvements that are supposedly the issue. I feel it has made the road less safe as often feel like I’m only person adhering to the limit, not a pleasant experience with vehicles passing by at 70mph . Please can you advise the current purpose of the restricted limit and when it might be removed.
