Massive deep potholes, 21st February
There are massive deep potholes in the road from the areas Brae up past Beadoun Agri to Cercal a Cuan. There is practically no surface left on the road at Beadoun Agri. As we have no street lights on this road someone is going to have a nasty accident & cars are going to be damaged. Broke my ankle on this road a few years ago & can see that something like that or something more serious is going to happen to someone else. We pay very high council taxes in this area for what?.

Boundary markers and eroded road edge, 14th June
There are two problems in this area (top end of Craigspuir Lane and the junction at the spur to No 7).
1) When the lane was adopted concrete blocks (could be kerbing blocks) were placed across the road to mark the boundary between the local authority adopted road and the unadopted track. Over the years the road at this point has developed a marked camber such that the blocks now stand proud of the road and are starting to catch the undersides of cars. The blocks will need chiseling out, dropping and re-fixing.
2) At the junction of the spur road down to No 7 C.L. This area is used as a turning point by amongst others, council refuse trucks. As the length of the vehicles and weight has increased, the vehicles have broken away the edge of the carriageway and have gradually been pushing the verge into the drainage ditch behind. Simply filling the sunken area with loose tarmac and rolling will not fix this problem. It needs the sunken area excavating, concrete laid and then re-surfacing. Ideally, in order to stop this problem having to be reported again the area needs widening to allow the vehicles a better turning circle and kerbing installed to stop further ingress into the ditch which if blocked will only cause further problems. If I can help further on these issues, please phone me on 01688 302114

Ian Phillips

Potholes outside Western Isle Hotel, Tobermory, PA75 6PR, 3rd June
There are number of potholes, some inches deep outside the Western Isles Hotel at the junction with Western Road. The whole area outside the hotel has been filled over the years and has now reached the point where it needs to be completely sarified and a new tarmac carpet laid. It will be much cheaper in the long run. The last repairs were washed out a few days after they were filled.
