Loss of road surface and reappearance of previous potholes over last few months. Need to drive with caution due to the uneven and broken road surface. Was jetpacked in June 2023 and been gradually deteriorating. Poor condition of road surface.

Halkirk to Westerdale road, 5th March
Extensive breaking away of road surface and many potholes forming at entrance to GS Donn. Left side of the road heading to Westerdale been there for many months but increasingly worsening road surface

2m of broken road surface, 25th February
This broken area of road surface has been like this for several months and increasing in length and width. On approach from JGC to Westerdale on single track road, just after the 2 large potholes developing on the road. No warning notuce for vehicles in either direction of the broken road surface and potential hazard to vehicle.

Length of potholes straddling the single track road at JGC before the turn off to Harpsdale. Increasingly difficult to navigate these potholes on single road. No warning signs insitu to warn vehicles of the hazard of these potholes.

Massive deep and wide pothole, 23rd February
Previously repaired pothole now reopened just after first lay-by on road from Halkirk to Achalone. Hard to avoid as single track road and smaller pothole just before this larger pothole. No warning for drivers of potential hazard. Several cars have been damaged by this pothole.

This road has had a trench for months. Really dangerous if you hit it and get dragged in. More and more holes arising too and becoming impossible to avoid them now.

From before JGC coming from Halkirk and then to the Harpsdale crossroads and right and left along each road this whole area is a disgrace. Metres of pitting and deep tracks making driving dangerous.

Unsafe road surface, 26th February
Holes and pitting in the road which if you hit it drags the vehicles into them as they go on for several metres on and off for a mile or more. From just before JGC coming from Halkirk to the Harpsdale crossroads. Accident waiting to happen. Especially with all the water around and you can’t always see it.

Road is riddled with craters, 21st June
This road is now non existent in parts. It has been reported for months now and nothing has been done. Right on a corner so very dangerous. Vehicles coming from both directions have to take to the middle of the road to try and avoid holes but this is now becoming impossible. Disgrace.

What is known as the “Harpsdale horseshoe loop” is in a terrible state with potholes and there is even grass growing out of some of them, the road has been in a state for a number of years now and nothing has been done.
