Blocked rain drains, 26th March
Most of the drains on the left hand side of whittingham road heading out of Glanton are totally blocked with mud, grass and debris, the drains are so blocked you would not even know the drains are there. This is leading to the rainfall we are having just running down the road like a river. This problem has been on going all winter. Are they due to be cleared ?

Drain cover has been damaged for several weeks and currently has a traffic cone to alert drivers to avoid it causing the corner to be single flow traffic only.

There are multiple potholes all up this road, 23rd February
These potholes have been here for about a year since they last came and filled them in. They did such a bad job the last time they were open again within a week. Plus they got stuck in our field and made such a mess and we had to get the tractor to pull them out. We've complained at several occasions now and we've heard absolutely nothing. Its that bad now that its starting to do damage to our vehicles. There is a gas station at the end of the road and they use this road very often now. The arctics that come down are making the road even worse. I've got an elderly grandmother and her carer came down the other day and damaged her car, and we explained that its not our road its yours. The road needs resurfaced from the cattle grid upwards! Were sick of these little patch ups that last about a week or two. If you don't get back within a week we will be back onto you about it because its that bad.

Water running from verge, 19th February
I just received notification that my previous report of this incident is closed as it could not be located. Really? Northumbria Water found it easily. They even spray painted a blue border over one of the leakage points in the verge. There are sizeable and fairly deep puddles at the edge of the road, where the tarmac has been eaten away. There is steady visible, and audible flow of water into the surface water drain. The leak is pretty obvious. Why not call me on the contact number I provided - I'll point it out if there are difficulties finding it. Please check again.
My previous notification: There is a worsening leak emerged in the verge, just before the junction between Whittingham Road (to Glanton) and the Grange Howbalk Mountain turn left. Northumbria Water has been notified and has inspected. They have chemically tested the water and declared it 'not mains'. The flow is constant, and emerges at a high point in the verge, so unless there are peculiarities with the underlying geology it seems unlikely that this run-off from the fields (indeed, the ditches to its west, are not filled with water). The map shows a ditch on the west of the road and a long ditch heading NE across the road. If these are linked then perhaps the channel linking the two is blocked?

Road verges are creeping in, 15th February
The roads are no longer sweeped or maintained, thus the verges are closing in on the road. The drivable width is being greatly reduced and needs reinstating so less mud is coming onto the road. This will also make it easier to maintain and for cars to pass each other safely.

Water and Mud carried down, 14th February
Water and Mud from the field above is carried down to the Road and the drain is blocked is unable to go anywhere. This happens every time it rains and sometimes you can't walknpast this part as the bank on the north is too high..

Blocked drain outside Churchside, Whittingham, 13th February
This small, old road drain has been blocked for very many months (12-18). Rain water quickly collects and covers the pavement. During heavy rainfall this can reach the front door of Churchside. We have tried brushing etc but the drain is now blocked solid with mud. Street cleaning lorries come along on school days when the road is littered with parked vehicles so don’t manage to clean mud from the kerbs exacerbating the drainage problem.

Obstructing public footpath, 7th February
This person Michael snaith of 1 Towerside whittingham has always parked his second car right on the kerb of the pavement, causing children and adults to walk on the road. Causing danger to them. This issue has been ongoing for three months now and nothing has Been done to get it sorted out.
