Potholes not fixed, 16th April

Tue, 16 Apr 2024 11:24:16 +0100
52.168377 -0.808822

I have just had notification that my previous report of appalling potholes on Hatch Lane were fixed on 24 March. This is absolutely not correct! The potholes are still there, still deep and still urgently need repairing properly.

It's impossible to avoid these dreadful potholes. I have video to prove they are well over 7cm deep., 19th March

Tue, 19 Mar 2024 21:12:40 +0000
52.168394 -0.809487

How can I provide you with the videos I have taken to definitively demonstrate that these potholes exceed a depth of 7 cm? They stretch across the road, making it impossible to avoid them with my low-profile tyres, causing damage to the aluminium wheel hubs even at 2mph. Ordinary roads shouldn't resemble obstacle courses. I've measured multiple holes and can verify their depth. Please advise on the best way to send these videos for your review, as waiting until September for repairs is not feasible. I rely on this road, but why should I incur costly damage to my vehicle before action is taken? Also please answer: What exactly does your September plan entail—is it merely patching the holes, which as we know lasts only a few weeks? The entire road requires urgent and comprehensive renewal.

This pothole caused puncture, 10th March

Sun, 10 Mar 2024 16:18:31 +0000
52.168324 -0.809317

I am writing about a puncture to my Fiesta's tyre on Hatch Lane on Friday, 1st March There was nothing wrong with the tyre before I hit a pot hole: out of habit I visually check tyres when approaching my car, also besides that the vehicle handled well during the 25-minute drive to Hatch Lane. Hatch Lane has been a persistent issue for several years, marked by poorly patched potholes that resurface after just weeks. Despite previous complaints, going back years the road's condition remains a hazard, particularly during rainy weather when the depth of potholes can't be seem making it impossible to avoid them. It had rained that day. I definitely remember a particularly severe jolt as I inadvertently went over one particularly deep pothole even though I was driving with great care and slowly. The car was parked for the night after Hatch Lane and not driven anywhere else. The next morning the tyre was completely flat. The replacement cost £98. This incident unequivocally stems from the council's lack of proper road maintenance. I have attached photographs supporting my claim. The invoice for the new tyre can be supplied but there's no scope on this site. I've tried to find your email address to send this directly with the invoices but the council has made this difficult to do, seemingly this discourages claims. Every web search directs me to this site. I urge the council to reimburse the incurred costs promptly. Please contact me if you need the invoice. Furthermore, the long-standing neglect of Hatch Lane poses a recurring safety threat to motorists, and I implore the council to address this issue comprehensively to prevent similar incidents. The road needs urgent and total resurfacing. While the financial aspect is important , the impact on personal lives cannot be understated. I missed a significant social event due to this incident—a dear friend's 60th reunion that brought together a hundred people after years. I was really upset to miss such a unique event. A quickly repaired, one-off pot hole is of course is unavoidable, but what has happened here is continued neglect over many years which impacts adversely on the lives of ordinary citizens. The complete resurfacing should have been done YEARS ago when complaints were first made before your current financial muddle. money has been wasted money by inadequate slap dash patching - every time it's lasted only weeks. I enclose photos of the pothole that ripped my trye but the lane is full of them, it's hard to avoid them all Your swift review and response will be appreciated, also your understanding and cooperation. Sincerely, Joy Macey

This whole stretch of road needs resurfacing - you've been bodging it for many years. There are, however, several large potholes that now span the width of the road. You cannot avoid them, and they are very deep. Urgent attention needed!

Witnessed two men who had just unloaded a pile of refuse on the lay-by . Took photographic evidence. There was another witness on the scene who will be happy to testify as well. Red IVECO large transit truck. KE54 CBU or KE54CDU. These people are clearly identifiable on the attached pictures. Pile needs to be removed asap and these vandals prosecuted, heavily fined and forced to clear up all the mess that accumulated there because of people of their sort.

Hedge not trimmed on side of road causing danger to all users, especially horse riders and cyclists., 15th January

Mon, 15 Jan 2024 23:15:12 +0000
52.164722 -0.808697

I reported this last year as the hedge needed trimming back to enable a proper view round the bend on the way to Eakley Lanes and Stoke Goldington. It was not carried out and still needs trimming back from the side of the road. I was informed last year by your organisation that the adjacent landowner would be contacted and requested to cut the hedge, please ensure this is done this year.
