FIXMYSTREET IN ME20 7QN
The following problems have been reported on Fix My Street within 2 miles of ME20 7QN:
Traffic, 12th April
There are two separate works going on here. One rebuilding of a wall cones are put out and down to one lane heading to maidstone and then Coldharbour roundabout again cones out single lane works which again down to one lane. On my lunch hour it took me 45 mins to pass through this area. How are both works allowed to go ahead at the same time. I even tried going on the motorway the following day and the slip road and that roundabout was also congested taking 40 mins to get off.

Street lighting not working, 1st February
A large amount of the lights have failed between J5 and J7
There is also no signage to drivers to inform the lighting isn't working, which would be useful due to how complex in particular this part of the motorway is.

Large amount of surface water gathering., 4th January
Whilst driving from Jct 5 to Jct 6 on the M20, a large amount of surface water is gathering which was causing road users to break heavily. This also presents a risk to other Road users with regards to unpredictable driving behaviour, and possibility of aquaplaning. Looking at a previous report, the lack of lighting in this area also leads to road users not being able to see the surface water until they are within the immediate vicinity.
Please could I suggest better drainage system, the light to be reviewed and assessed, and for the speed restrictions to be reviewed and implemented when weather conditions change.
Kind regards,

All the lights have been off between J5 & J6 for months, 16th December
There is a report from 5th September 2023 about this issue. Does it take over 3 months to fix the lights, or have they been turned off to save the cost of electricity? This is particularly dangerous in the Winter months and especially during the evening rush hour. There are often long queues coast bound and drivers crossing lanes to avoid or jump the queue. Working lights would make the journey so much safer.

Very dark - lack of lighting, 5th September
This stretch of the M20 is extremely dark with no lighting. It strikes me as unsafe, particularly given the lack of hard shoulder on this "smart" section of the motorway. Are steps being taken to improve visibility and safety on this stretch of the motorway at night, or restore lighting?

M20 Maidstone bound Slip Road, Aylesford Lane markings dangerous, 27th March
The dotted lane lines recently painted to forcefully form two lanes at the start of the SLIP ROAD joining the Maidstone bound m20 (originally one lane) involved me in an extremely close collision incident. The second lane disappears after a few metres! I was behind another car when a big black jeep powered up the side of me in this outer lane and found his lane had vanished! I had to break hard and navigate slightly left to avoid him hitting me! KCC highways told me months ago that Nat highways painted the lanes without consulting them. I nearly had a serious accident through no fault of myself hence this urgent feedback! It requires signage or lines on the road making it clear the second lane ends immediately please. I wrote previously about this but you failed to understand it was the slip road I was talking about but you also said you are responsible for slip roads.

Recent lane markings on roundabout can potentially cause collision’s, 26th March
On Approach road to m20 j5 interchange from cold harbour there are 2 lanes that transform into 3 at the junction with the roundabout. Left lane is m20 London bound. Middle is little Preston or Coast bound m20 an outer RH is also Coast bound. Problem we have since the lane markings were repainted is that both the middle and outer right lane both initially lead into the same lane on the roundabout, and then a few yrds on another lane opens out so forming 3 lanes. But by then a collision can occur! The left hand lane is purely for little Preston which doesn’t need its own lane for so little traffic! What happens in practise is the two lanes from coldharbour all drive into the middle lane causing potential accidents because the 3rd lane doesn’t exist soon enough. The is also a serious problem with the lane markings on the lane joining the m20 coast bound needing arrows as two lanes become one as reported separately. Needs urgent action

Recent lane lines idiotic, 26th March
The dotted lane lines recently painted to forcefully form two lanes at the head of the lane joining the Maidstone bound m20 (originally one lane) involved me in an extremely close collision incident. The second lane disappears after a few metres! I was behind another car when a big black jeep powered up the side of me in this outer lane and found his lane had vanished! I had to break hard and navigate slightly left to avoid him hitting me! The lane needs arrows to warn drivers the lane ends and to move into one lane. I have previously complained to kcc highways about the awful lane markings on this roundabout as I believed they could cause accidents. Apparently Nat highways painted the lanes without consulting them. I nearly had a serious accident through no fault of myself hence this urgent feedback!
