Dog Fouling, 10th February

To Whom it may concern, In July of last year we purchased a house in Cemaes Bay on the Headland. Now as this is an area of outstanding beauty, we would love to keep it that way. However sadly it seems there are a lot of folk who do not seem to have the same values. I am talking about "DOG FOULING" Our house is on a prominent position of Cemaes Bay, and we have the village green ( Bonc-y-Mor) surrounding our house on two sides, leading down to the sea. It is a popular area for dog walkers, people walking down to fish or to picnic, children love playing in the soft spongy grass. Sadly a lot of folk who walk their dogs there, think it is a toilet for their dogs to foul. Now I don't mind their beloved dogs fouling there, as long as they bag it and bin it, however the majority do not. I also take my little dog to play there, and when he fouls I bag it and bin it, but lately I am taking bigger bags with me to pick up all the other dogs excrement left behind to bin. It is not just around my house where this is happening, it happens along the pavements in front of the beach too and on the beach. I have only been able to count three dog bins in Cemaes, none anywhere near our house. I want you to understand that I am not trying to do this for the benefit of myself because the village green is next to my house, I am doing this for the benefit of everyone else who uses it. Also dog excrement is very dangerous as the Larvae on the excrement can cause an illness called Toxocara, and if coming into contact with humans can cause all sorts of ailments.Look up Toxocara on Wiki.... I am sure no parent would like this to happen to themselves or their child. I have spoken to the Chairman of our local council, and his argument was, that the council does not have the money's to pay someone to empty any extra bins, I find this absolutely absurd and unacceptable, he also went on to say, that it's the tourists dogs that are doing the fouling. Now while this may be true to some extent, I however know that the majority of the culprits are the locals as I can see out of my window from all sides, I have confronted some in a polite manner even offering a bag, on chap told me to *$%_+" off. Cemaes itself is a dying village, nothing is happening here and businesses are closing. However the tourist trade is still thriving and people still flock to Cemaes Bay for holidays, and it is the tourists that bring money into Cemaes, should we not be setting an example? My guest house is one of the largest and I am almost fully booked this year, my guests use the village green and the beaches as I am sure guests booked in from other Guest houses do too. There are not enough boards asking people to pick up and bin, and there are not enough bins. Other places have a £100.00 fine if caught not picking it up, why can't we too? I am not a trouble maker and I do not go around policing people, I don't have to, as it is happening under my very nose and blatantly obvious as the evidence is lying on the grass, pavements and beaches when I go walking. Regards Maggie Mombourgh.

A very deep pothole (which has been fixed once) has re-apeared in the road on the brow of the hill as aproaching into the village. Unless this is fixed properly it will only return again. Due to being on the brow of the hill it may be very difficult to notice it until it is too late.
