Very poor damaged road surface, 1st November
Heavy Vehicles on the A470 road causing my building to audibly and physically shake due to the appalling condition of the main highway.
I have reported this issue many times to both the Welsh Government and their representatives Powys CC and they are not taking the problems seriously.
My late wife and myself moved into this property 10 years ago. The property is circa 1700, well before the current road surfaces were built.
The situation has deteriorated drastically since gas main work earlier this year when the road was left in an appalling condition.
The current road has been left in such a way that when heavy loads travel across this road, an entire section of the house vibrates and shakes. The rattling causes the floors, ceilings and ornaments to vibrate it is not just noise but also amplified waves shaking the house. We can physically feel the upstairs floors shaking.
I suspect the vibrations are carrying under the road, travelling across to the house and vibrating upwards into the house.
There are cracks in the house and it is my belief they are being impacted by this event happening on a regular basis.
I request that somebody comes out to carry out a proper survey on the effect heavy vehicles are having on both mine and my neighbours properties.
Alternatively repairing the road surface would be a good starting point.
I recently had a visit from a structural engineer and it is my understanding that the continuing situation is detrimentally impacting the stability of the house over the longer term and therefore should have appropriate measures put in place to stop the vibration into the house and land I own, or alternative routing of heavy vehicles are put into place.
These are not light vibrations, it is audibly clear and the shaking is physically felt across the majority of the house. As a result, this is a serious issue for myself and my neighbours!

Road surface disintegrating, 19th February
The road has been getting worse over the past 6+ years, despite many attempts at getting the Welsh Government to authorise Powys CC to repair the surface NOTHING has been done. The noise and vibrations are actually damaging the properties adjoining the road and I have seen cyclists and motor cycle riders trying to dodge the holes!!

Badly damaged road surface causing excess vibration/shaking & noise for properties on this stretch of the A470, 1st March
The A470 road surface in South Street Rhayader is badly damaged by primarily the increasing size, speed and volume of hgvs. Causing excess vibrations, noise and damage to nearby properties. The motor bike rider hit one of the potholes and was very lucky not to have been seriously injured. This has all been reported many times over the past four years to the local council, the local MP, the highway authority and the Welsh Government who have done nothing to help!! Any help please!!
