Stile in dangerous condition, 15th September

Tue, 15 Sep 2009 18:10:31 +0100
53.9661037834184 -2.73927219266148

The stile at this location is in a dangerous condition. The wood is rotten and is very slippery with algae - it also comes straight out onto a road and it is difficult for approaching vehicles to see anybody using the stile. Although it is a country road, vehicles travel quite fast on it. If you are descending the stile, with a dog on a leash, there is no buffer zone at all between the bottom of the stile and the traffic on the road. My foot slipped on the rotten wood, whilst I was trying to climb down it the other day and I nearly fell. Had I injured myself and not been able to get straight up off the ground, I would have been lying directly in the path of an oncoming milk tanker.
