Thank you for the replies to my enquiry EI/189283. Cumberland Highways have explained that the works on the A595 closing the Whicham Valley are planned to be complete by Friday 16th February, so that when Kirksanton level crossing closes on the evening of Sunday 18th February my wife's carers will be able to travel from Millom to Bootle to attend to her.
I have heard today from local residents that it looks very unlikely that the A595 works will in fact be complete by Friday 16th February.
What are Cumberland's present hopes? What arrangements has Cumberland made in case the works over-run ? How will affected parties, including Lakeland Care, know what is happening and which route they should take

Possible broken sewerage pipe, 30th August
Next to the steps down to the beach there is a sinkhole, about 1 metre diameter. It has been there for a few months and a smell of sewage has been getting increasingly stronger. I know the adjacent properties have septic tanks so wonder if there is a problem with one of these. The smell is now strong down on the beach and any potential runoff will be polluting this area, where families with children play.

Farm vehicles, furniture, large container crates, metal building materials left permanently on pavement and road in front of Hodgson Green Farm in front of war memorial., 27th May
Permanent extension of farm yard, vehicles and potentially dangerous materials and large objects out of farm onto pavement and Hodgson Green road off The Highway in Silecroft. Mud and mess from farm also obstructing footpath and the mess is an eyesore at entry to Silecroft and loss of use of Green to village.
