Long, deep pothole on road edge, 13th May

Mon, 13 May 2019 11:49:00 +0100
56.416512 -2.890677

On the road from Tayport to Vicarsford Cottages (road edge at a corner) is a deep if not too wide pothole. This is not easily seen es it partly blends in with the soil on the side. If any tyre catches this, there's likely to be tyre/wheel damage or worse. A cyclist or person on a motorbike would fall off. This pothole is now deteriorating.

Cycling on the St Michaels-Tayport road I hit a pothole in the road directly opposite the entrance to Morton Lochs suffering a rear wheel blow-out., 21st November

56.4233284054785 -2.8885687615357

I was cycling home from work on the St Michaels-Tayport road about. I hit a pothole directly opposite the entrance of the road leading to Morton Lochs. It was at night, but I had both a bike light and a Halogen head-torch, but still got caught. My rear wheel suffered a catastrophic blow out causing a skid / slide. This section of road is a problem that has been patched and re-patched for the 10 years I have lived in the area. I think most recently within the last month. The result is more than simply a puncture, but it looks like the entire rear wheel will need replaced given the damage sustained. I was uninjured except for a momentary “eye-watering” impact with the saddle. The location of the incident is confirmed by the GPS details on the graphics here; I was doing c.31km p/h and had travelled c14.8 km from St Andrews: http://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/636948309

Flooding and serious potholes, 22nd April

Mon, 22 Apr 2013 18:57:45 +0100
56.423112087595 -2.9125439543904

This section of road at Easter Friarton was flooded 1st on 12th October 2012, and has been under water ever since then. The council closed the road nearly 4 weeks ago , 27th-29th March and it is still flooded, the water has now washed away the road surface and there are numerous enormous potholes under the water. The mud and compacted earth leading in and out of the submerged area gives further difficulty whilst trying to pick your way through. Now only really passable with extreme caution in a 4 wheel drive high vehicle.

Poorly filled cable laying dangerous for cyclists, 18th January

Sun, 18 Jan 2009 22:22:22 +0000
56.4218357769632 -2.88916286581709

Last year some sort of cable was laid between St Andrews and Tayport and in various places this wasn't filled in very well. This has resulted in a groove in the road that is about an inch wide which can trap some bike tyres. I've nearly fallen off my bike on one occasion due to this. The place I've indicated on the map is an area where it's particularly bad, especially as it's on the busiest section however the problem is along most of the length of the cable.
