I can’t get out my drive safely, 13th August
Roadworks in Irvine Road Kilmaurs. Traffic lights put up and my house is in between the traffic lights and there’s no pavement. The roadworks have caused a single lane right at our house, as theres no pavement between us so it’s hard for us to drive out of the house and hear and see the traffic as we dont know which side has a red light and if we pull out there’s no opposite carriageway for cars to use to avoid hitting us, which happened previously. If we come out at the wrong time we could hit a car or lorry coming from either the left or right. No consideration has been given to us. This is an accident waiting to happen, especially as the road is now caked with muck. This has been 12 days now, it started on 2 August. How do we leave our house on foot? Normally we cross the road to the pavement opposite, that’s now blocked. No consideration of residents has taken place. It’s so bad the binmen couldn’t pick up our recycling trolley or that of our neighbours 9 days ago as that would require stopping within the traffic lights. They had to send a separate smaller vehicle after complaints by residents. How is this acceptable? I want to be able to drive out my house without being hit by a car.
