Community charges, 13th December
A few years ago I complained about the community charge I pay at 10 Murchland Way, as it is a 2 bed bungalow (detached), stating that many larger properties in Irvine ie Loach Avenue, William field grove were sold at that time with either similar or lower charges, the First Minister then levied increases on “those with the broadest shoulders” which included ourselves as we are in “band D”. I fail to understand how a couple on basic pensions and a small works pension can be deemed as having broad shoulders? We now face another increase in this charge and along with everyone else the energy, fuel, cost of living increases mean a crippling future on our resources. I was promised by my local MSP that the disparity in community charges would be looked at before the end of this parliament, that was 2-3 years ago, will it ever be investigated never mind sorted??
