Blocked drains have caused traffic accident, 16th January

Tue, 16 Jan 2024 16:54:42 +0000
52.413134 1.04795

I have reported this problem on numerous occasions and nothing is ever done. Blocked surface water drains cause the road to flood and during very cold weather this water then freezes creating very hazardous driving conditions. On the 20th Jan 23 I sent photos to you showing the problem. Today at approximately 2.30pm there was a serious traffic accident on this road with police and ambulances in attendance and a lady driver in one of the vehicles was taken to hospital. I spoke to the police and they stated that speed was not the cause of the accident but the treacherous road condition. Perhaps now you will carry out this urgent work and unblock the drains

Flooded road which has frozen causing numerous potholes, 20th January

Fri, 20 Jan 2023 17:22:39 +0000
52.412899 1.04855

Wood Lane is a total disgrace, water flooding down the road freezes and causes numerous potholes. I have reported this on a number of occasions but no action is ever taken to resolve the problem. The water is flowing from the verge as shown in the last photo probably caused by a blocked underground drain which needs to be cleared. The road is now very dangerous with thick packed ice making driving treacherous.

These drains on the Street, outside the Old Chapel have been blocked for years and we keep reporting them. they now even have green shoots growing out of them. it is causing our road to flood, which in turn causes properties to flood. Please ensure somebody comes to access and fix these as we are fed up of being pushed between highways and the council and nobody will take responsibility.

Blocked drain or ditch at side of road, 17th March

Thu, 17 Mar 2022 12:53:53 +0000
52.412624 1.048808

Anglian Water have been out to look at this problem thinking that it was a burst pipe and dug a large hole in the road which they are now re filling. The problem is a blocked underground drain or ditch causing water to flow down the road. This problem has been reported before but no action was taken. Whether this is a council responsibility or the land owner is not known but this problem needs to be addressed together with the previously reported problem of the drain further down the road. These drain problems have been in existence for many years but nothing is ever done to sort them out.

Blocked drain and potholes, 1st March

Tue, 01 Mar 2022 12:02:08 +0000
52.413645 1.046018

On numerous occasions I have reported that the underground drain in Wood Lane from the end opposite the chicken farm to The Street is blocked and water runs out of the manhole cover and runs down the road. This excess water causes the road to break up leaving potholes. It is a total waste of time just repairing the potholes you must clear this drain first and then repair the potholes. Wood Lane is a disgrace and these problems need to be sorted now.

School needs a bin outside and along extended path as littering is profuse, 16th December

Thu, 16 Dec 2021 14:49:40 +0000
52.3915 1.05439

There is currently no bins along the extended pavements from the 1066 junction towards the school and on the high road after the school. This results in a magnitude of litter being dropped, if a bin was to be added it would significantly reduce littering protecting the environment

Ditches completely overgrown, risk of flooding, 16th December

Thu, 16 Dec 2021 14:46:24 +0000
52.388344 1.051858

This issue which i had already reported, has been deemed 'resolved' by the council, but only half the job has been completed. The ditches have been dug out near the main road on school road and near the sewage system at the top but the worse section opposite the house -'The Spinney' has not be addressed. The ditch is completely overgrown, full of rubbish, with abandoned cones and signs from the council. The bank is so low that when there is heavy rainfall it WILL flood. Please sort the problem out fully this time!

Ditch completely overgrown, road subsiding, and rubbish aplenty, 24th October

Sun, 24 Oct 2021 17:17:54 +0100
52.38788 1.051781

This ditch is an utter disgrace, from the school to the main road it is blocked with vegetation the council have failed to maintain over a number of years. Now when it rains everyone at the bottom of the hill experiences flooding. Rubbish is continually chucked from cars and due to the ditches being so overgrown it becomes lost making litter picking impossible. The water flow is barely a trickle, please sort this out properly.

Damaged manhole in the road and a blocked drain, 29th January

Fri, 29 Jan 2021 17:00:05 +0000
52.413776 1.045632

The drain under the road from opposite the barn to the junction of Wood Lane with The Street is blocked. Also the manhole cover opposite the barn is damaged and in heavy rain water pours from this manhole and runs down the road. This has been a problem for a number of years and has been reported in the past. The damaged manhole cover is a potential risk to traffic.

52.412061 1.050095

There is an underground blocked drain in the verge of Wood Lane causing all the water to run down the road. You attempted to clear this drain many years ago but the workers reported that it had possibly collapsed and needed to be replaced. This drain has been blocked for over 10 years and needs urgent attention. Please don't just place a road flooded sign in the road.

Bridge over ditch broken and footpath overgrown, 31st January

Fri, 31 Jan 2020 16:59:01 +0000
52.412427 1.048937

This problem was reported a few years ago and nothing has been done. The small timber bridge over the ditch is broken and Bressingham Footpath No 15 is overgrown and unusable. I could understand if funding was not available but recently a brand new footpath finger post was erected in Lodge Lane indicating Shelfanger Footpath No 16 and this footpath is totally overgrown and inaccessible. In addition another brand new finger post and new bridge were erected in Lodge Lane at Shelfanger Footpath No 15, this footpath is rarely used as indicated by the absence of any footprints over the field. So since there is obviously money available for this type of work perhaps you will repair the bridge and clear Bressingham Footpath No 15 which will have plenty of use by the local residents.
