This pothole and loose grate is an ongoing issue which has massively deteriorated over the last few days but today it has suddenly become a danger to all road users as it is SO deep and life threatening to cyclists. Road surface rutted, pitted and abraded, 20th February

Tue, 20 Feb 2024 22:25:37 +0000
51.162076 -0.446415

This is another area where the road surface is extremely hazardous and requires urgent repair. The problem has existed for more than a year but is now a serious hazard to all road users, particularly those on two wheels. The entire section of roadway needs urgent repair and resurfacing before someone is injured or killed. The deeply pitted and rutted section of roadway would be particularly hazardous to any cyclist, particularly one on a road bike with thin wheels. The damaged area is probably a 15 or 20m section of the road.

Road surface deeply rutted and covered in gravel from landslip from surrounding banking, 20th February

Tue, 20 Feb 2024 22:21:58 +0000
51.163287 -0.447005

The road surface in this location is abysmal. It is deeply rutted and scarred, and full of holes; it is a clear and present hazard to all vehicles, but particularly 2 wheelers (both powered and push bikes). A cyclist on a bike with road / racing wheels would be in serious danger of coming off their bike as they descended the hill, particularly at night. There are in fact several sections of similarly terrible road surfacing but this is the worst because it is covered in loose gravel / shingle from the surrounding banking. The problem has been there since at least the beginning of last year - I last took photos there in June 2023 - but nothing has been done and instead the Council has focussed on spending money reducing the speed limit and fixing roads which don't need it. There is no planned surface repair there in the next three months according to the Council website. This road is heavily used as a cut through by large vehicles and vans and the road surface is collapsing. These vehicles constantly have to swerve into the middle of the road to avoid the collapsed bank which endangers oncoming traffic. The area is also constantly wet due to ever-present drainage issues and this only makes it worse. This is a negligence claim against the Council waiting to happen and frankly, it would serve them right. The trouble is that it will seeming take someone being seriously injured - probably a motorcyclist - for anyone to do anything about it.

Deep water filled pothole 50 cm from the curb, 17th January

Wed, 17 Jan 2024 19:12:03 +0000
51.159817 -0.445306

This is a small part of an extremely degraded patch of road with multiple potholes and gravel. The entire section at the base of Pitch Hill is seriously degraded and has been so for many weeks, Surrey council in my opinion have been negligent to allow the road to deteriorate to such a degree and it is highly likely that there is a serious incident in this area soon

Overgrown hedges/ trees over cyclepath/ pavement path, 18th May

Wed, 18 May 2022 11:21:36 +0100
51.145731 -0.46944

The hedge/ trees along the main road (by the side of the properties called, 'Orchard Corner' and 'Four Gables' are overgrown over the shared cyclepath/ pavement path. This makes it very difficult to walk with a pushchair or cycle along this shared cycle/pavement path, forcing persons into the main road. This has been getting worse over the last few years. The hedges need a robust cut back to allow people to safely walk or cycle down this shared path, as there is no additional grass verge in this area for people to use.
