Under road culvert blocked, 8th December
The under road culvert grating on the West side of the Balfour Cottages is blocked forcing the water from the ditch into a neighbour's garden and flowing down the road to a hole in the farmers wall where it spills into their field. The bars on the grating are to close together causing leaves and other plant debris to block the grating and force the water over the top.

Ditch full of sand and gravel, 21st October
The ditch at the bottom of the hill is full of sand and gravel forcing the water onto the road and taking sand and gravel onto the road. The high flow of water down the road from other blocked ditches above has lead to the verge washing away as previously reported leaving several areas where the road edge is being undermined by the ditch and water flowing down the road.

Ditch collapsed blocking water flow, 21st October
The ditch at the top side of the junction is blocked and fallen in prevent water flowing away down to a burn nearby. The water is flowing across the road and down the hill to a low point where it flows into two farmers fields and upto the front door of a property as the flow away from that ditch at the bottom is not sized for the extra flow from this runoff. Sand and gravel gathers on the road at the low point and can get to 14 inches deep causing a danger to traffic. The ditch requires to be cleared at the top to restore flow to the burn and prevent gathering of water at the low area.

Grating leading to under road culvert blocked, 21st October
A grating on the inlet to the under road culvert was fitted a few years ago and ever since during heavy rain grass and leaves flow down the burn, gather on the grating and block the flow through the culvert. The blockage then halts the flow of sand and pebbles down the burn, filling it up and forcing the water out over its sides, into neighbouring properties and down the road to a low area where it gathers until in reaches a level where it exits the road into the farmers field. The neighbours frequently clear the grating but it continues to block. The flow in all but the worst weather can flow under the road safely but the continual blocking of the grating causes flooding. At present the sand and gravel had nearly buried the grating again forcing the water down the road. The gravel requires removal and a better solution required at the grating to prevent the repeated blockages. Possibly wider spacing of the grating bars to prevent leaves and grass blocking the grating would be a simple solution.

The ditch is restricted causing the water to flow onto the road and then gather farther along at the low area of road at the bridge beside the menmuir hall. Ditch requires a clean to allow water to flow within it to the burn at the bridge.

Culvert under road block causing burn to run down road and create a flooded section of mearby low lying road, 19th November
The culvert under the road on the burn by Balfour Cottages has blocked, forcing the burn to spill over onto the road and flood the low lying section of road below the cottages. The blocked grating is now buried below sand and gravel carried down the burn by recent heavy rain meaning a digger is required to clear the burn and grating. This has been a recurring issue of the grating blocking with leaves and grasses at every heavy rain causing flooding of the road and this time flooding of the cottage nearest to the burn. The grating should be removed to allow free flow of the burn.
